Pretty sure I am in a small minority, but I like Van Halen with Sammy better than I like them with David Lee. All great stuff with both front men of course, but I think 5150 is my personal favorite. Adding that to my playlist for today.

I'm not sure you are...I agree they made Diamond Dave work for what they did, and the playing was some of their best, but if I'm being honest, the dude can't sing. That's painfully evident if you've heard him lately...I literally couldn't listen to 'Different Kind of Truth' all the way through. Sammy can sing, and very well for Rock 'N Roll too (IMO)

    This one is a fav:

My kid has to read each night for school, and wanted music on in the background while he read. I asked what he wanted, and he replied, "Beethoven, Symphony No. 9." Who am I to argue?

Yeah, David Lee can't sing. That said, I still think this was a fun song. I remember many drunken sing-a-longs from my twenties.

    (song starts at about 1:35)

I was a fan of early Van Halen, and Sammy solo. I like Sammy with VH, too. Not sure if I have a preference really.

Billy Squier always reminds me of The Who concert at the Cotton Bowl in December 1982. He was the final opener for The Who, and got booed off the stage. I felt bad for him; I liked this album.

I think after 3 opening acts, the overpacked stadium crowd was beyond ready for the headline band.

Great performance from 2015, only 3 years ago. She never lost any of that amazing vocal talent...
