The show is excellent as well. Imo, the best sci-fi tv show ever.

I've read most of King's work, he is probably my favorite author, and The Stand remains at the top of my list. There is a mini-series based on it. It was produced in the mid nineties but followed the book pretty well, and while it will look dated now it's still worth watching if you have not already.

The one criticism of the book compared to the show that makes me hesitant to start reading that series is that the book makes Holden a much less likable/sympathetic character. I love the show, anxiously waiting for season 4.

He is also less of a naive doofus in the books, which actually makes him a little more realistic character, imo.

IMO the Expanse book series is fun and engaging, but seems like an obvious attempt at writing something to hit the bestsellers list. It's as though Dan Brown wrote SciFi.

It's a "dessert read" - sweet and satisfying, but lacks substance.

Got about 80 pages left of Lee Child's Jack Reacher The Midnight Line (actual, physical book).......next would be Necroscope - The Mobius Murders by Brian Lumley on my tablet.

Recently finished Anna Karenina, which is one of the bst novels I've read. The characters and portrayal of Russian aristocracy is so well done.

Now reading The Master and Margarita.

A while back, I ran into someone who's a famous writer in her home country, so I asked her what she was reading. She said she had read Where the Crawdads Sing last year and had loved it.

So, yeah, I read Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and it's very good!

For sci-fi/speculative fiction, there's that trilogy where each book won the hugo award (the oscar of sci-fi writing) three in a row for best novel: N.K. Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy. The first book is The Fifth Season. It's very well told if you're up for the fall of a civilization.

In non-fiction, if you haven't read Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, then I think you'll dig it if you're interested in how we got to where we are.

I sincerely hope all of the powerful politicians, regardless of political affiliation, who very clearly participated in his ring get exposed and busted.

The last thing I thought I’d be reading is a James Patterson book, but someone I trust recommended it. It’s rage-inducing.

I read a long-form article from a paper in Miami about the whole thing. I think our fearless leader might have some exposure on it too. I am just so tired. Of all of it.

Just started Koko by Peter Straub. Big departure from Floating Dragon, which I loved.

Watching The Expanse on Amazon, wondering if anybody here has read the books. I'd expect them to be even better than the show…anybody have input about that?

    Thanks!
