Started Dark and skipped around alot the first season, haven't kept up. Didn't interest me as much as I thought it would. Probably because I'm not the biggest fan of subtitles and the English dub was atrocious. Probably a great show though. Looks amazing on my OLED.

We discovered after watching it there's two much older seasons from 2011. Called Top Boy Summerhouse. They've got all the same actors by the looks of it. We'll watch them as prequels I guess. Don't know if they're the same quality.

Yes, DARK looks amazing on my OLED, too. I'm fine with subtitles...99% of my experience of foreign films came with subtitles. Thanks to the considerable contrast of HDR OLED, subtitles are highly visible.

The only mildly challenging part was getting used to the choppy, consonant-heavy sound of spoken German. I don't speak it and saw relatively few German films over the years. Adapting to that took part of one episode; since then I'm totally in synch.

It really helps that many actors in DARK are so accomplished in "face acting," to the point that some of their stricken expressions (the plot is agonizing) are straight out of Munch's "The Scream" or TITICUT FOLLIES.

I'm enjoying USA's new show Treadstone so far. It's an origin story to the Treadstone program from the Bourne movies that moves back and forth in time between it's inception and current use. It has potential, I hope they don't shit the bed with it, lol.

I agree. Saw the 1st episode last week and was impressed, particularly by the fast, dynamic fight scenes. It would be great if this Bourne-inspired series took off & got even better, the way good episodic TV does.

Watched Michael Palin in North Korea. He always has a subtle touch when dealing with sensitive subjects in awkward situations. Not sure where this would be available, other than buying the DVD online (maybe the library?). If this were 20 years ago, I'd say go down to your neighbourhood Blockbusters and rent it.

Echo In The Canyon on Netflix. Worth a watch especially if you remember music from the sixties fondly. I think it is the last project Tom Petty can be seen on before he passed too soon.

Binge watching Season 3 of The Crown on Netflix. Strange, I don't usually care for English television. Never got in to Monty Python for example but the series about the reign of Queen Elizabeth is extraordinary.

Get Shorty has been consistently good since the beginning, I think season 1 is on Netflix now.

Just added this to my list on Netflix. Never even heard of it until your post here (thanks!).

I loved the book by Elmore Leonard; and liked the Travolta/Russo/Hackman film adaptation, though like many screenplays, it had to leave out much original dialogue.

IMO, the best-ever EL adaptation on TV remains FX's JUSTIFIED--but I'd be delighted to find this series a worthy contender.

I'm watching another gritty, excellent Australian TV production: PERFECT CITY on Netflix. It stars the magnetic Anna Torv, who co-stars to great effect (sans Aussie accent) in MINDHUNTER. Just finished the 2nd episode, and this show is really sucking me in.

Binged this weekend through the Expanse season 4. The show moving to Amazon definitely didn't have a negative impact on the quality!

DAMN IT! I watched season 4 in pretty much 1 sitting. WTF am I going to do now?! I'm going to have to wait another year for season 5?!

At least when it was on SciFi, it took several months of my time waiting each week for another episode to be released. Now I'm going to suffer through Expanse withdrawals for a whole freaking year?!

Throw me out the f'ing airlock. I can't take it.

Expanse-heads: I watched the first few episodes from season one and was bored so I moved on to other things. Should I give it another chance? Can I skip ahead?

I was the same way. Really wanted to like it, I tried season 1 several times and gave up partway. Finally stuck with it and season 2 gets a lot more interesting.

I read the the book before watching the show and the book was really hard going at times for me. Ended up finishing it then started to watch The Expanse once it came out. Never really liked the lead guy and dropped it. Maybe I should give it another chance.

Me and wife are now watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel which is charming but at times can be a bit formulaic.
