Even if something is coming, no one in the know is able to share that info. Something better is always coming and as far as I know Schiit hasn't officiallly mentioned anything like they did such as Vidal or Freya so far in advance of release.

Gungnir Multibit is a great dac, I really enjoyed my time with it.

Everyone is sworn to secrecy, and no one will spill the beans early, I can assure you of that. So... Wait 6-9 months. Save up.

I ended up buying the Gungnir Multibit and a Jotunheim to pair with my hd600 and 650. I can't really speak to your treble sensitivity, as I have the opposite problem; I'm 56. That said, I am very glad that I bought the Gungnir Multibit, and my personal opinion is that you can't go wrong with this dac if you are up for spending that kind of scratch on a dac. You don't mention what dac you have now (unless by m2u you were referring to a Modi 2U and not the Magni 2U you mentioned) so I can't say how much of an upgrade it might be, or if it might be better given your treble problem. And no Ether I have ever heard would be my recommendation for addressing a treble sensitivity. In fact, my first recommendation for that would be what you already have, the hd650. As to the "wait 6-9 months" thing, I have no idea. Not really part of the in-crowd around here. My opinion of the Jot, which is that it is a synergistic pairing (but for sacrificing some staging or "space" benefits of some other choices) with the Gungnir Multibit, is probably not widely shared. Bottom line though, is that Gungnir Multibit and Magni 2U will be better than Magni 2U and most, but not all, other dac options at the price range you mentioned. Don't have to buy it all at once. I should have waited for you to exhume this thread.

Indeed, as someone mentioned before, it's like the Computer Industry (albeit might be a little slower for audio), there is always something better coming. I'm glad you enjoyed the DAC and hopefully I will have the same experience.

Cool! I wonder if someone can say what type of product it is or what will it replace.. the amp possibly?

Sorry I should have been clearer, I do have the Magni / Modi 2 Uber as a stack.

Interesting point about the Ether - I thought they were on the 'warmer' laid back side of the spectrum.
I do love my HD650 and they pair up perfectly with my Bottlehead Crack. Absolutely no issues with that combo... it's the M2U stack + TH-X00 side I'm trying to improve upon.

Awesome, getting close to placing my order for the Gungnir Multibit (or find it in classifieds). I'll pair it with the Magni 2U in the meantime while I mull over what to do next... Sell or keep the TH-X00 Ebony / and find a matching amp for the Gungnir Multibit.

    Thanks for the replies all!

Got my Gungnir Multibit and Jot last week... Absolutely love the Gungnir Multibit and I've been trying really hard to like the Jot. I've been A/Bing the Gungnir Multibit --> Jot and Gungnir Multibit --> BHC on my HD650 and every single time, I prefer the BHC. I was about to put in the RMA to upgrade the Jot to the Mjo2 but it looks like the right move is to wait on the amp and start testing out some other headphones... maybe the HD800 will be next.

If you don't like the Jot with your 650s, I don't think you will see the hd800 as an improvement.
