Swapped out my speakers and I'm still loving my Yggdrasil A2 as much as I did wth my former speakers. Running it AES input with a Berkeley Audio Alpha USB. Have a Qutest at work in my office system. Perhaps one day I will bring it home and A/B against the Yggdrasil, but then again, I'm so happy with the Yggdrasil, I lack the motivation to do the testing.

I will probably get crapped on by 90% of SBAF for this, but to me this is a breathe of fresh air, especially in much of densely populated and overly squeamish/squirmy Southern CA. Not happy that the dog was shot per se (a tragedy at a personal level and I personally question if this was really necessary vs just hitting the dog next door) but that people still have it in them to take a stand without being nutjobs and that the police and neighborhood didn't try to screw them afterwards (or at least I assume so given that this wasn't in the news, they aren't in prison, etc.)

Speaking of which, I'm somewhat suprised we don't have a guns thread on SBAF. Maybe because it crosses the no politics line (different convo for a different day)? To clarify, I have no personal interest in (edit: or problem with people) talking about guns on SBAF, just that [edit:the topic] normally pops up in most online forums with enough people (just like outdoors threads, cars threads, etc.)

I'll downvote any guns post and I'm sure most EU members will do the same. Why not have a drug thread while we're at it? Psilocybin anyone?

    I vote drugs!

I'm currently on paracetamol+phenylpropanolamine HCl+chlorphenamine maleate all together! They help keep my demons at bay.

Jokes and my thoughts on sundry topics aside, this is a DAC thread. I'm one to talk about topic derailment, but @fp627 dude come on.

There was one when I first joined, it eventually got deleted entirely.

Why not downvote all posts about alcohol while you're at it, or posts about fatty foods, or knives?

I'm not opposed to or against any threads. Up to SBAF individuals and as a whole to participate or not. Whoever can make an off topic thread about umbrellas or rocks for all I care. I probably just won't participate much and let others who care enjoy the threads.

Now, Yes, sorry for noise and yes off topic for sure, I won't be posting anymore about this in this thread. But at the same time given that SBAF talks about a lot of other stuff openly enough, I was just curious.

Also purrin posted 1 sec after me. Thank you for answering stupid curiosity question. Completely get it.

Negatory to guns discussion. I don't have a problem with guns. It's mainly people I have a problem with, so maybe some people who have mental (or financial or sex) problems shouldn't have guns or even think about guns. I talk guns with certain people at work. One dude at work introduced me to a Kriss Vector which was kind of cool because of its design to reduce muzzle lift. However, guns discussion (and post of photos) among Internet audio geeks comes off as extremely cringy. I mean audio gear discussion is already cringy enough. Also, because my D&D alignment is chaotic-good, guns discussion may give 4chan or 8chan weirdos (angry young males who have been given all the advantages of this country but ended up losers anyway) the wrong idea about this site.

I'm cool with drugs discussion. As long as you are cool with me warning y'all about how drugs f**k your brain up (it's different for different people); and are really more suited for consumption by rich people. I'm hardly square as I've tried stuff, but people who say drugs don't f**k up your brain are probably too far gone to even notice diminished brain function. 1-5% diminished brain function with weekend weed is still 1-5% diminished brain function. I guess it depends upon your job. Cloud security and drugs (including damage from prior abuse) don't mix well.

For the record, the only drugs I have ever taken are sugar and ridiculous volumes of caffeine, occasionally alcohol. Recreational use of weed or whatever, I don't mind as long as it's not immediately life-ruining for oneself or others. An actual drugs thread, I'd probably shrug at and ignore, maybe read for funny stuff.

Post you quoted was me trying to lighten the mood, talk of certain topics (in this case guns), can be stressful.

This wasn't a first-time event. The dog was one of those big mastiff or dane type dogs. I know other big dogs who have gone after and killed other dogs. When big dogs go apeshit, hitting them doesn't work. At that point, it's all instinct. I guess a baseball bat, shovel, or knife in lieu of a gun might have done the job too. The owners were irresponsible and their dogs kept jumping the fence. The dogs did not heed commands. The thing about dogs is that ANY dog can suddenly go apeshit. Even "gentle" breeds such as labs have a small possibility of this. It's up to the owner.

Makes sense now. Probably was necessary. If not for the dog, then for themselves eventually.

To interject as to why I questioned in the first place with a childhood story:
As a kid there was a new neighbor - single female lawyer who lived a few houses down the street from us and had 3 very big and very loud/aggro dogs for protection. Dogs easily big enough to kill children if they wanted. Neighbor had probably put some people in jail so while the dogs would bark at the kids as we walked by - the neighborhood wasn't happy but understood her predicament and let it slide at first as they weren't doing anything per se. Soon after the dogs started getting loose and chasing/circling us kids (myself included two times, scared the crap out of me but they never actually attacked me) around the neighborhood a few times when we would walk home from school or play outside. Then one day a kid got tackled by one of the dogs soon and VERY luckily 2 neighborhood dads rushed over out of nowhere and kicked the dogs away before he got really injured and somehow dogs didn't attack the dads / actually ran off. Owner must have heard the commotion as she ran out soon after and profusely apologized. The day after the 3 dogs were then locked up much more securely inside, had muzzles on pretty much 24/7, and were never seen again by us outside.... I found out later that apparently many in the neighborhood saw/heard what happened several had told her that if the dogs hurt their or the neighborhood kids, they wouldn't hesitate to shoot the dogs and sue her for injury/death. Being a lawyer I'm pretty sure she doubly understood the situation she was in.

However, in this entire story, no dogs were shot. But the owner was not as negligent.

I just got my Yggdrasil back from being upgraded to A2. Yeah, I waited al long time to do this.

Upon first listen cold, I didn't really notice anything different from A1. Not better, not worse. It had also been about 3 weeks since I'd heard it. While it was gone I broke out my old Modi Opti for television use. I didn't listen to music on the main system during this time.

Yesterday after about 24 hrs of warm up, I realized I had never heard it sound so "clean". The instruments and vocals were well separated and popped out of the mix with more precision. The plankton was there and I found myself following secondary instruments in the mix rather than the obvious stuff. I have been back to listening on original Heresys, so I can't comment on bass because the Heresys really don't have any to begin with.

I probably won't get a chance to listen much again until next weekend. I'm curious to hear if it gets even better after a week.

just noticed on Schiit web site a Yggdrasil GS does anyone know if this has Gen5USB? the description on the web page says it is an Analog 1 what EXACTLY does that mean and for only few $100 more is it a better deal sound wise than buying a brand new Gungnir multibit-i will be pairing it with new Rggy 2 (just an amp) and a pair of Legacy Audio Studio HD monitors
i only listen to HD/HiRes streaming from TIDAL/Qobuz on their web pages plus from ROON and Audirvana A+3 and my ripped Apple lossless CD's 800 of them
    thanks bobbmd

I had those Legacy's for a while. They drop off like a rock around 90hz or so, and that tweeter is "hot/bright" if otherwise nice, so synergize with an eye towards warmth.
