Yeah, that's not supposed to go there lol. Different sizes...I commend you if you got it done, but the Ori pads are probably stretched like a Speedo on a hippo. Made me chuckle though thx.

I too wished that Aeolus had a similar narrow bass dump as the Atticus, but I resigned myself that the Aeolus was just a different headphone as opposed to an open Atticus.

You are hearing the same thing in the upper mids heh? Aeolus is rather snappy in the treble, but here in the upper mids, it does lack that bite. I wonder if it's more than an FR thing (that dip is there), but also transient response. FR doesn't explain everything.

Yeah this is my experience too, with the stock and suede pads, and I'm similarly confused. If anything by measurements the suede pads might be slightly warmer than the Verite pads and I don't find that to be the case at all. Verite pads are great for me, I too don't love the tonal balance with the stock pads.

@Jinxy245: Ori pads actually are the default on the Atticus. My bad was trying to put any perf pads on a closed can... but I was curious. I was eventually punished for my bravery when trying to put the ori pads back on.
@purr1n: Thanks for your comment. Yes, and it's already hard to interprete FR alone. So I'm now actually thinking to work the other way around, buying the eikon lamb perf pads for the Auteur and the Univ lamb perf for the Aeolus and trying to converge towards my favorite tone and maybe I'll end up using just the one that suites better, even if my plans was to keep the two at their opposites side of warmness for different duties.... but hey, pad swap is actually easy on auteur so... Let's see.
@ajaxender: My big issue with the BE2 is that I touch the bottom badly. I get even some pain if I keep it for one hour or more. So my understanding is that BE2 and Verite pads have the same height (both min and max). This is a no go for me. On top, I don't actually like where the Be2 (hybrid) goes and I fear verite (even if in lambskin) will be very close. Looking at cskippy meas on page one, verite pads seems to flat the high mids by lowering them all to the same level compared to the down slope of Aeolus pads... but hey, I am trying to read FR again! (but at least this is coherent to what I ear ).

Ah gottcha. The Ori is a smaller circumference so I didn't think it'd work at all...didn't realize people (uh like Zach) were useing them on the Atticus. Either way I'm sure you've seen the helpful pads descriptions on the ZMF website, that should be helpful in making your decisions. Good luck!!

Yes, I kinda watched it 10 times before even start touching the headphones. I am always very careful when opening things! Thanks! :)

Anyone help building a amp/dac setup around my ZMF Aeolus that I love? Budget would be about $1,400 total.

I'll let this go for now, but please post these kinds of posts in our advice threads.

You also need to provide way more information: what are you running now, what do you want to improve about it, any other gear you heard that you liked certain attributes about them. Without this information, it's hard, nay, impossible to recommend you anything that you might actually like. If you are completely new, that's fine too.

Also, we aren't here to hold your hand and make your purchasing decisions for you. Show due diligence and read up on threads (and also search on prices).

We have our Golden Schlong awards as well. Two things to keep in mind while perusing those threads:
    1. Once an award winner, always an award winner. Old gear doesn't suddenly turn into shit because new stuff came out.
    2. Simply throwing together gear that won a Golden Schlong is not going to necessarily guarantee system synergy. Please peruse this thread and read up more about how synergy matters (hint: it matters a heck of a lot).
