    Thanks for the impressions @gbeast.

Are you also auditioning the Atticus? I am interested in the difference of the two.

Also, what do you mean by 'treble heads won't be excited'? Is it polite?

If I answer that question honestly I might get lynched around here....no comment yet.
Yes its smooth in balance as well but has some presence. Keep in mind I like the 650 treble balance. Treble heads find the 650 dark. But like my post I havent really gotten a grip on the treble yet. Tomorrow we have mini meet, tonight I will get to listen a lot more.

I do have the atticus here and prefer the Eikon on a first listen. Last night all I could do was keep playing vocal tracks. I couldnt get my mind off of how great the voices were sounding. Then I played a couple of bassy songs on both and was very pleased with the low distortion and presence

@gbeast what are your thoughts about noise isolation and leakage with Eikon?

    I have not heard them.

I was going off gbeast's comment that he would compare them to other TOTL closed headphones. A personal choice here, but while I'm always on the lookout for high impedance headphones since those pair well with my OTL amp; where it comes to closed headphones I'm perfectly happy with my Slants.

Honestly, outside that super rare Sony, I would consider the ZMF Blackwood one of the best closed backs period. If these two are a big improvement, then...well, that seals the deal. There's not much competition on that high-end for closed backs at all.

That said, the Eikon and the Atticus are semi-open. They'll be a lot better than the slants in that regard.

I have to say though...I'm excited to see if the Atticus captures that special something the HD6x0 series has always had. The Eikon seems like a sure bet either way, considering the biocell drivers are just made for Zach.

It's pretty decent to me. I asked my wife and she said they aren't that loud and the Omni sounded like it was almost open to her. But I have to test them.

The Eikon have the sub bass boost. The Atticus has more midbass. The Eikon bass sub bass is clean, deep, and controlled. Think of the Nighthawk sub bass performance wise which is pretty darn clean and deep but this one seems to have better impact. I do feel that I am posting too early. I just didn't want to leave you hanging.

I can see some saying that these have too much bass because they have more than the CodeX for sure and that is considered truly neutral bass. Before I answer more questions I think it's best for me to really sit down with them. Both sessions I was distracted and listened after 12 and 13 hour work days. Both of which my wife missed me on and I needed to sneak in some songs and leave em alone.

Today we have a mini meet and I hope others share impressions. I will do an honest write up of these in the future. Maybe a week or less.

When I talked to Zach at RMAF he said tuning was not final. Waiting on some driver revisions. Should you hold off on any detailed writings?

Yeah, preorders for something that is getting close but still not final. You know RMAF was just a week ago, right? So my info from him should be accurate and up to date. :p

I'm going to have to go over and have a listen. I told him at the last local Chicago meet that all I needed was a closed HD650 and I would be done, and he said one of these could be close. Really curious how close he got (or wanted to get).

Yeah, so, pre-order opens in 20 days or so, then more time after that before the real launch, right?

Based on what I heard and some technical discussions about further tuning, these could be a good HD650-ish closed alternative. Biggest surprise was the smooth treble and NO front damping over the drivers!

No you won't. The Code-X is no longer being sold. They were HE-5s that Luis tweaked. Luis doesn't care if you don't like them or prefer something else to them. You don't see me owning them.

Is the Eikon you're listening to, the Cherry or the Padauk?
