I'm curious to see where you guys stand on Hifimans DAPs I've owned the HM901 an sound quality is amazing! Build on the other hand is... well lacking. I'm kinda wondering what will match it in terms of sound, while offering a sturdier build. The HM901s promo through Hifiman is tempting, but the Fostex TH X00 kind blew my budget for that xD

dont let it ruin it for you, there are plenty of good campaigns out there lhlabs is just a small minority of bullshittery. if you want to be extra safe just go with kickstarter only, they dont let the fundraisers f**k around like indiegogo does

Still debating if I should go with the QP1r now while I wait for LH to horribly mess up my Geek Wave in 8 months in a total nightmare.

Any further reviews or impressions of the QP1r?

Wow I forgot about the geek wave. 8 months is a long time to be waiting.

Not to many reviews on the QP1. I've seen a few on head-fi.

The new Onkyo DP-X1's are pretty good and tbh, its as good as any of the totl daps on the market now.

They are also completely sold out in japan lol.

Interesting, has there been any coverage of this?

    Edit:
NM I'm reading through it on HF.

Has anyone else heard the Onkyo DP-X1?

Haha its cheap enough that getting one is really a no brainer. Assuming you're in the market for a DAP and it fits your budget.

Well I'm looking at the QP1R and just ran across the Onkyo DP-X1.

I rely only on reviews as I have no access to hearing any of these devices.

I've read a lot of people aren't very happy with the UI of the DP-1X and have steered away from it.

ROFL those people who aren't very happy with the UI don't like it for the fact it's android.

Android is a heavy f'ing stack to implement in your player. Basically you're saying you have no idea how to make a UI so you'll take an entire OS and shoehorn it onto your player.

I'm receiving the Fiio X7 demo unit tomorrow from head-fi's tour. I'm looking forward to how their dap-only mode app will fare.

I think that's simplifying things. There are advantages of implementing Android, like being able to use streaming services like Tidal, etc.

I've picked up a QP1R from a local audio dealer, oddly enough. I find their opinions on home gear quite reliable, so when the main guy there was saying how impressed he was by the audio quality of the Questyle to the point they decided to carry their product, I took a chance. Sonically so far it is quite good, with noticeably better clarity over the ZX2 and my iphone 6+. The things I can't get on board with are the UI, and the jiggly scroll wheel. UI/build (due to that darn wheel) just aren't up to an $899 player. That darn sound quality though! Man, is it clear & dynamic. Makes my UM Mason just sing.
