Loaner: RD-X (rhythmdevils modded Audeze LCD-X)

As an owner serial owner of the LCD-X, now the 2021 version, this has my interest. They do so many things right, but I am very eager to hear the improvements of this modification. If the tour is still open, I am interested (Denver based). If not, let's chat.

Do you want to try only the headphones or with the LauX amp too? We like to send both because the amp has good synergy with Audeze.

@Orbilius has not replied to a pm I sent him after this post so he cannot be on this loaner.

I simply asked him to send a picture of his current stock LCD-X with a note with his username and today’s date so I knew he at least owned a stock LCD-X. But no reply. Sketchy. Even if he’s honest, if he can’t respond to a pm in 2 weeks he can’t be on a loaner tour.

RD-X arrived today, safe and sound. My LCD-X arrived back from Audeze with fresh drivers a few days ago, so I've got a great comparison setup ready o go.

I usually listen to my LCD-X via Roon with the Audeze preset enabled. Am I correct to assume the RD-X was *not* voiced with that preset, and should be listened to without it?

Man, just listening to The Clash - Straight to Hell real quick to make sure the headphones arrived in good shape, and wow, these sound great. Can't wait to listen more intently.

 

yes, the Audeze uses the preset to adjust the FR to be neutral. My RD-X is tuned to be neutral with no presets or eq. So using the preset, given the FR of Audeze’s would make my RD-X really bright.

TL;DR
Don’t listen to my RD-X with eq or presets. At least not to evaluate them. Whet you do if you own one is up to you of course.

Yeah I don’t see this tour coming back, based on RD’s status with SBAF. No idea what actually happened, but I think this is all wrapped.

 

Yea - noticed the Banned status. Curious what happened, and hope everyone is good.

The loaner will continue as long as people are interested in it. I can manage the loaner page for now. The ban is temporary and RD will be back in a month.

 

To keep things clear, I believe @rfernand is next after you're done @futuresound . If I've forgotten someone please let me know. And with @rfernand the tour will include the amp again.
