    To circle back on the $100 chinese box on ebay, I searched for hours and couldn't find it. Tried to price the parts myself and couldn't get it to $100 so I dunno what this guy was smoking.

    On another note could somebody who has heard one let me know how silent / black the background is. It makes a big difference to me.

    Chain will be Gungnir Multibit > BW (probably) > 800s

    had Gungnir to BW1 to HD800 first
    and now Yggdrasil > BW1 > HD800/HE1K

    it's dead black silent on max volume knob if no music is playing.
    and it's pristine black with music playing.

    IF IF you have no power issues, ground loops, alien static, DC bleed out, SMPS fuzz buzz, crackles from computer coming down USB lines, etc.
    it's not about those 3 devices alone, it's the whole enchilada environment.

    you're welcome any time. That's all I do these days ....swapping out of the BW1 into the ZDS as the mood fits.... I think Marv said like 15% of all members in a meet preferred the ZDS to the Studio... and the food will be great !!

    lol, my memory fucked me up. The Chinese box is RCA-->XLR, & it's not using Jensen trannys but some unknown ones from China.

    The best way's builing our own Jensen box. Someone really needs to draw up the schematic and make a list of BOM (plus some modding advice).

    Add in labour and the fact that these will ship with a chassis, this actually makes the EC version at $300 seem like a wonderful deal.

    So you think a BOM of $290 for a product including chassis and a $300 projected price seems unreasonable?

    Do you not realize that most audio equipment sold through traditional channels has a BOM that's 1/5 MSRP or less? Internet direct companies shoot for 1/3 MSRP at the most.

    Craig wildly underprices his products.

    @purrin Can anyone comment on the SE vs. balanced output options on the BW version 1 and if they will be different on the version 2. On my BW version 1 both options seem to work great and I do not have a golden enough ear to hear a SQ difference. Which one should I prefer? :rolleyes: I am guessing that this is a single ended amp, so the balanced option is the conversion that may have degraded SQ (that I cannot hear) due to extra steps.

    Also, I can have the LCD2.2 plugged into one and the HD700 into the other output at the same time without hearing a noticeable degradation of SQ or volume. Is this due to me not having a good enough ear, or is there some magic or extra reserves that allow this? Does anyone else hear this differently?

    EC website says end of 1st quarter. That would put it late March delivery date at the very earliest. Expect some sort of delay, EC's fault or not. I know quality control is important and they won't rush something out just to satisfy shipping goals.

    That said, I need this thing like I need air. How do we FedEx a couple cases of red bull to Craig and the gang?
