F/S - Gungnir MB A2 w/Unison - Gumbreya ready - Chip out to XLR

I jumped in a time machine and have gone back to the OG DS Gungnir and am letting it take control of my system.

Prior to picking up the DS version I was running a Gumbreya with a Freya N and had modded this Gugnirs XLR outputs to be direct out from the DAC chips. The wiring is completed using purple Furutech wiring.

To be clear. The stock XLR outputs are being fed by, and only by, the direct outputs of the MB chips. The voltage is hot, higher than 4v. Somewhere between 5 and 6 from memory.

I was using it as a Gumbreya setup, but then sold the Freya and have been using the direct outs to a DIY Sangaku with great sound and success. The SE outputs work as intended and using the Analog 2 stage. The XLR's with direct from chip signal are engaging and fun and clarity is superb.

I simply am enjoying my DS version more as its engaging and forward in a way that I really enjoy. In comparison, the MB version is smoother and less forward sounding. I am hear for the attack and slam of the DS Gungnir!

The sale includes a power cord and stock box. The casework is in a Silver finish and is in very good condition.

I can provide an image of the modded board to anyone interested in the sale. Not posting the setup publicly for reasons.

Disclaimer:
Outward appearance is stock but the XLR output is coming directly from the MB chips. It may not work with all amps and has only been tested using a Freya N, DIY Sangaku, Mjolnir 1, and Liquid Carbon. All worked great, but I cannot guarantee it will work in all cases.

 

Oh the DS. How much i regret selling mine, not because it's the best but because its so unique in its presentation. The more laid back and smoother the headphones, the more it shines like no other. Me and @SoupRKnowva are trully fans.

Gungnir DS or MB are such very special and should be more appreciated. Would have loved to try that modified Gungnir! For the price it's a superb deal!

Exactly how I feel. I owned and sold the DS version and missed it, after nearly a year I had an opportunity to pick one up and am glad i did!

just trying to decid if I should get the Unison upgrade!!

After a few days of listening to both, I am keeping both. Both DACs have strengths and weaknesses and I am here to say that I enjoy them all.
