How is it that discovery is STILL just so damn bad on Tidal??

From what I've read they aren't doing super duper financially. As long as they're the only lossless game in town (will change soon) they probably have no motivation to put resources elsewhere

In any case, don't be unhappy you don't have a custom title. If you do, you may not like how it reads... Then again, if you don't you must be really average... Pick your poison. ;)

Haha, the cone breakup seems to be very well controlled.
You can always add a tweeter, but matching the sensitivity might not be easy without a horn or a high efficiency ribbon. I wouldn't want to do that though.

nice man! i'm sorta debating about raggy vs. mjolny at the moment for some planars. what's your take on the rag vs. whatever you had before it?
      Mar 27, 2017 at 9:12 AM
    3. Torq
I like the Ragnarok better than the Sagaheim + Lyr 2 setup I was running before ( But I'm just re-purposing existing hardware after my move/consolidation. Both have been feeding LCD-2.2c and HD650.

Well for me low carb diet comes natural since i have a grass allergy which also means no grains. And i kind of made it a habbit, don't do much running nowadys since i got my dog. But now that he is of age to go running with me the plan is to pick it back up.

I agree on the clearing your head and endorfines part, i really mis that. Music after a run is so good...

Yeah, it has such an effect on mood and stress levels- plus I think just doing it is quite meditative. You're just focusing on cadence, breathing, and your immediate environment- very much "in the moment".

OOI, have you read "What I talk about when I talk about running", by Murakami?

It's a very zen activity thats for sure :)

Can't say that i have. Will have to check it out, been meaning to read more but other stuff always happens.

Btw are you a minimalist runner or a regular kind? Personally i reduced allot of injuries after i went fully minimal, i even wear minimal shoes in daily life for a couple years now.

If you a/b it with other amps, you'll hear that it's lacking a bit of extension, and that it's more.. hrm.. "congested" on busy material, of course. No amount of tube swapping will fix that. However, for the size and cost? Brilliant. I still think it's a way better starter amp than any of the Magnis, for instance..

..and if you don't A/B, you can still lose a whole evening, listening to it :)

I decided not to buy more tubes for my Vali2, but I've got a "bag of tubes" recently from a friend, so... I've been listening to the Vali2 with a 1940's Ken Rad 6SN7 in the past 2 weeks and it is a perfect complement for the Jotunheim with it's sweet highs and mids and big soundstage.

After getting the PortaPros it took me almost a week to be confident that what I was hearing was different from the FiiO EX1, and *better*. I'd say we ARE splitting hairs in audiophilia, even with transducers. You really need to be in tune with the nuances to easily discern things. Not unlike art -- If you show a Rembrandt and a da Vinci to a random lambda, what are the chances you'll get a "meh, not much different"?

I know people who swear there is no difference between DVD and Blu-ray in terms of image quality. People perceive things differently and what may be an obvious difference to some is difficult to discern for others. This is where training comes in.

It's not a fast show, it's more of a visual, thoughtful show. Check out a later episode like "Jack's Shoes" or maybe "Three Blind Archers" to get a feel.

Good find. I'll probably get something like that when (if?...) I ever buy property. Looks like the Entech and Alphalab test for EMI (some tests I've watched had radio stations audible over the power lines using these devices), whereas the SureTest has a "distortion" test. Not sure details on that: Shunyata uses the ASCC test to show their DTCD results.
