HD800 "French Mod" aka "SuperDupont Resonator"

Great news. I'm eagerly looking forward your results especially compared to HD800S. Actually my results were promising but if yours are even better, it would be a huge reward for the time I spent on this.

 

Crap!!! I have your Absorber mod too. You need to use them both. It's amazing together.

Let's wait Tyll's and other guys measurements but seems the Beta will end quickier than I previously thought and we'll be able to open production and distribution of the fuperDupont® Absorber. I'll take more order then

You should actually do this. Have Marv organize a mini meet in SoCal and crowdfund a ticket.

 

So many friends I'd like to meet IRL . would be awesome .

Btw, let's wait what tyll and Marv and early adpoters have to tell us . Moreover, there's still work to organize and produce reliably a few dozens of SD absorbers.

 

@Tyll Hertsens : I did check myself with a flashlight and actually I saw the resonator is kinda "empty" but I wouldn't swear there is no damping material in the hole. I wasn't able to see perfectly. we thought first it was a kind of cylinder with a 7mm hole but it's not. It's a cavity and this cavity matters.

Nevertheless, I tried a simple round of paper with a 6mm hole , glued over the mesh to close the hole in the middle.. Results was not that good. I tried open cell foam instead of felt and the results wasn't as good as with the felt.... and so on. For sure, I didn"t try everything but I swear: I tried a lot of options. Me and my friend hubert who worked as well on this absorber agreed to think damping material was necessary at least for our DIY "resonator" . Maybe we're wrong. In my measuremens I definitely saw 5 and 6 khz drop when I began to use the felt ring and drop even one step more when I thought to close the bottom. And guess what ? I used 1mm creato at the bottom and it wasn't as good as the fuckin' paper.

In the SD absorbers I sent last week, every part matters actually but I'm almost convinced the Senn One is a real resonator whereas ours is a kind of absorber that not use the same principle. Measurements seem to show same results though and the current SD is quite easy to reproduce and to DIY. that's was the specs I imposed on myself.

What surprises me is the fact you measured less distorsion in the modded HD800 compared to the HD800S. with mine, HD800 modded exhibits more distorsion. but I trust more your method than mine.
