Audeze LCD-24 for $1350

 

That intrigues me. If fuzzy memory serves, it came out after 4 as a lighter and more affordable alternative before they committed to making the 4Z at higher price tier, and is supposed to be very similar in sound signature. (even fuzzier memory says something like between GX and 4? that's only from what I've read, I haven't heard the 24 myself)

 

Yea it came out around the same time as the LCD-4. Audeze released the LCD-MX4 and LCD-24.

My experience with the LCD-MX4 is a headphone that has a very odd frequency response with technical performance that was mildly better than the LCD-X and nowhere near the levels of the LCD-4.

I haven't heard the LCD-24, but it's supposed to sound even stranger than the LCD-MX.

 

My understanding was the tonality of the OG 2.2, but with upgrades that are borrowed from the 4 and the magnesium chassis that improves ergonomics. Not many people had them - mostly the true heads got them and thought that it was a marriage that sounds good on paper, but maybe gets lost in the lineup. The X was more affordable and tuned more 'reference' or the 4 which outclassed the 24 in technicality by the 24 going for more of the 2.1 / 2.2 sound/presentation.

See, this sorta increases my interest because I've had the X twice and did not like them, but have typically enjoyed the 2. But the comment about it sounding even stranger is, well, I dunno. Audeze box 'o chocolates and all that (is that even still a thing? it's been years since I've paid attention to their quality control).
