Iirc, that book wasn't quite what the media made out. The author talked about how her older daughter rebelled against her horrible bullshit and was a lot better off as a result. The mom, in turn, learned not to be such a control freak for her younger daughter.

True. I finished that book. I must admit though that I took break for few weeks in the middle of the book - I grew up in a similar family.
