    I know I'm in the minority here, but this is a big reason why I never got along with most modern iron sets that aren't "player's clubs." Although it is hilarious to hit a 9 iron 160-170 yards it's not what I'm looking for. Makes the wedge gaps impossible for me to deal with

    @ChaChaRealSmooth new set’s 9i loft 39°, old set 42°. I had new PW from a forged set adj to 44°. GW 48°, SW 54°, LW 58°. I’m a 120 yd 9i guy. lol…

    Other set is similar, but I went with GW 50°, SW 56°, and LW 60°. That’s what I’m used to. I can adjust tempo on wedges, so will be ok regardless.

    @ChaChaRealSmooth 6° btwn PW and GW is like 108 yds to <=96 yds. Will have to 3/4 PW in some cases. Can’t muscle up GW w/o effing up.

    That's not too bad. I play with 6 degrees difference between my wedges myself: 48, 54, and 60. For me they give me exactly 15 yard gaps and I can always adjust for in-betweens

    It's not about how far you can hit the club, it is about how consistently you can hit the same distance with the same club every time. If you don't have that part down working on moar distance is probably detracting from your game.

    @Kernel Kurtz Absolutely. I'm working on my consistency after being away for 16 years. After 16 years my clubs did not fit me any more. I needed a change just to get back to where I was.
