I really do advocate for club fittings. I didn't know for a long time as a teenager my clubs really didn't fit me and were the source of many consistency struggles
I suck at golf too, and follow John Daly's "grip it and rip it" school of thought. My ball hits the fairway, just not always the hole I'm currently on.
Forgot to mention, it felt great when I teed up the all carbon fiber Taylor made driver at Roger Dunn, then the club head broke right off after a hard drive, lol
Golf and I have a weird relationship. Got into it for a summer at the behest of a buddy; lent me a set of old Ping Blades. took about 6 rounds getting used to things. Then shot a 68. Buddy told me to hang up the clubs or be ready be to disappointed for the rest of my life. haven't played since.
