Wow, thank you @yotacowboy and @gaspasser ! I'm honored :) This is unexpected! @ChaChaRealSmooth If I recall correctly the pair is not the 'super saiyan edition' aka v3, according to my internal revision notes it's a v2.2 which is one revision behind v3.
it does get better. i have a v2 and v3 and v3 is an improvement in clarity and openness, as hard as it may be to think. i also think bass extension has been improved. don't think it's particularly competitive between the two versions.
My HD800-JAR created by @ext1 fits my personal preferences at such a high level that it is not likely to be displaced by any other headphone. This is my reference.
JAR660 fulfils a similar role for me. Tone is to die for and technicalities are sufficient, within the context of being fairly source agnostic. I can only imagine what JAR800 out of a high end setup sounds like.
