I do enjoy Freya+ in my setup a lot.

My Freya S's active mode is on the Fritz so I thought I could substitute it temporarily with the jot2. It sucked the life out of everything - too warm, weird bass, a complete loss of transparency

Another data point: when I bought Mjolnir 3, I hoped it could also serve as a preamp. It was OK, but Freya+ was noticeably better.

@wbass now that I have a bit more context for stuff I think it could be an interesting listen for you. I do emphatically not care for it, but the staging has idiosyncrasies that could work for some, and now that I'm paying more attention to transient response as opposed to just voicing, I feel like that's another way they seem to stand out vs other SS amps.

It'd not make sense to compare Piety to Unity since the Piety is stylised, but betwen the Magni 3+ and the Unity I feel like there's a bit of a pronounced gulf, and both are arguably similar amps in intent. Mainly treble smoothness and sense of driver control with the Senn HD600s. But I could also be so far up my own bunghole at this point that the differences are exaggerated in my head.

Good speakers are cheat. Doing DAC comparison with average planar headphones is badass.

Occasionally I still enjoy my PC optical drive for playing CDs. It works fine. And I don't have to worry that I don't even have a hifi stack set up now although yes, I wish I did.

I like new gear as much as anyone else. My favorite thing about my CD player is the previous owner lost the remote, so I rarely skip songs and enjoy the whole album. The irony is the lost remote was a cause of hesitation while buying it.

Yeah its an old DAC but still pretty good I think. I wanted to compare to a new DAC but haven't gotten around to doing it
