FS - Massdrop TH-X00 W/Alpha Pads - SOLD

Love these headphones, but just haven't been listening to them very much.

They're in great shape and will ship with original box, carrying bag, etc. BUT they do not have the original pads as I drunkenly destroyed them in a modding experiment gone sadly awry.

They do, however have a new pair of Mr. Speakers Alpha Pads.

what's the sound differences with the Alpha pads? I don't mind the stock pads but I'm just curious, just got a pair of the TH-X00.

 

I just posted this in response to a chat question so I can just copy and paste it here:

They affect the sound in that (to me) the mid bass and associated bloom are reduced and the sub bass is a little more prominent. Mids also take a small step back and because of all of this - highs seem a more pronounced. There are posts online where people compare the Alpha Pads to the stock pads, so you might want to look for those.

Regardless, the headphones still sound really good, I'm just not so sure they compare favorably to what you might expect after reading impressions from those who have heard only the stock pads. The Alpha Pads are very comfortable though and when added to the Fostex, result in a beautiful pair of headphones.

Again, check online for others' opinions of the pairing with the Alpha Pads - That will help more than anything I can say.

 

Do the pads help isolate the sound more or about the same?

 

Pads really make no difference for sound isolation as the cups themselves leak a lot. The Alpha Pads are much softer though.

 

Recently sold my pair and have been regretting it.

If you're willing to sell to a man that is just coming out of lurking, I will definitely take them off of your hands at such a generous price. However, if you're selling to SBAF friends only, I completely understand .
