God damn it. A little kitty was crying outside my door tonight so I gave him a treat and now he's in the house. He wouldn't leave after that (kept following me inside when I brought him out).

I'm and idiot and never should have fed him. Positive is I've always wanted a cat. Negative is my wife hates cats. Maybe this is my miracle cat.

Going to bring em to the vet tmw to check for a tag.

Update: Fed and watered and went number 1 and 2 and all looks healthy. Still working on finding the owners. The vet isn't open until tmw.

Thank you for taking him in, that’s really good of you. He looks to be in good shape. His coat looks nice and clean and fluffy. And since he’s so sociable, I wonder if he belongs to someone and got lost. If there’s no microchip maybe ask the vet if there’s a local “lost pet” website or Facebook page. Lots of vets put up flyers for missing pets. And if he has no people and your wife vetoes adopting him, there may well be a no-kill cat shelter or foster group nearby who can help. Thanks for rescuing him!

That's what I'm thinking. He looks too healthy and clean to have been a stray for long or is just lost.

We posted on our neighborhood and town Facebook pages to see if we can find the owner. When the vet opens tomorrow I'll bring him in to look for a chip.

 

If you cant find his\her home let me know, Id take a cat before having it put into a shelter.

I'm so glad he chose me. I'll take all the puppy frustrations in a heartbeat, in return for just one more deep sniff of his head and a lookback during our walk. I'm in love.

Here's an update on 'Z'. He's suddenly an escape artist. The Husky in him is showing more and more...I was taking the trash in and noticed a familiar face under the gate. There are now two very large rocks there...

 

That reminds me of something I never saw, but, like many things from early childhood, formed a mental picture from my parents' stories --- and the picture endures!

They had gone out for a few hours, and left the two Alsations (GSD) shut in the garage. Previously, this had been fine, but there happened to be a thunderstorm. And they returned to a dog's head sticking out through a dog's-head-sized hole in the doors.

I do remember those doors (and the dogs), and they were good, old-fashioned wood-plank doors. Must have taken some determined chewing!

 

Well, we officially adopted and named Zeke. He's already a fine addition to the family and now has rabies, tick, fleas and worms meds.

On to the snip-snip in the near future.

He's getting along with the doggo much better as well. My wife sent me the below picture so don't blame me for putting glasses on the poor cat. Lol.

 

I'm guessing your wife no longer hates cats...or at least doesn't hate this cat. Cats can melt the heart of the staunchest cat skeptic.

 

Yep! It's been incredible watching her change from being deathly afraid to deeply in love. She had a bad experience growing up with one cat in particular.

 

Update. He is now named Zeke and is a solid part of our family. He has taught the doggo not to mess with him and also enjoys (chewing on) HD6XX.
