Wow, a Teres progeny! The shipping alone can kill you, that weighs almost as much as your speakers. We're not worthy, :bow:we're not worthy, we're not worthy

    Is the base granite?

Oh nice! U actually know about Peter Clark then? Yes, he was part of the original Teres team along with Thom Mackris from Galibier. The pedigree of this turntable is of legend, so I am definitely looking forward to what sonic results a properly implemented and realized mass loaded design will bring into the system. All in due time.

From here on out, after the dust settles a bit, I am going to shift gear and work on a Garrard 301 idler wheel implementation with dual tonearms. That will happen sometime later this year.

Again, the idea is to realize the musical experiences all these setups bring to the table. These are the last pieces of my analog journey with turntables...I figured I would complete them and get an understanding of what great human beings/designers have created when all limiting factors are removed (time, finances etc.)

I plan to share these experiences with others so people can learn along just like I am. Music does that...brings us all together.

    All in due time....

EDIT: The base is the HRS M3X that has been custom made for this setup. You can read about it here:

Oh yeah, Thom was looking for an ET jig at one point, and I was going to lend him mine, but then he found one locally. This was right after the bearing buy, iirc but this was a while back. I mentioned this project a few months ago. At the time this was one of the very rare points of light prior to the turntable Renaissance.

Kuzma 4 point setup with a Dynavector XV-1S as second tonearm on the EAR Discmaster. I have an Dynavector XV-1T incoming in about a week or so.

Yes, the Bobs Devices Sky 30. It is hooked up currently to my Jan Allaerts cartridge and just working really wonderfully.

There are some seriously nice looking setups in this thread. Hell, they're beyond looking good ... they're the audiophile equivalent of decadent pornography!

I am entirely jealous of @shaizada systems!

I have to confess that, while I will generally put sound-quality above other factors, I am strongly influenced by aesthetics. I've always fancied a Michel Gyrodec. But the rigs in this thread even beat that out on looks. I can only imagine how good they sound!

While I have, from my time in the U.K. a substantial vinyl collection (thousands of LPs), it's been a long time since I had a high-end turntable. In fact, that would have been a Linn LP-12, with every upgrade available as of about the end of 1994. I sold that before I moved to the U.S. and was all-digital for a while.

My current, comparatively very basic, setup is as follows:

    RPM92.jpg

With the dedicated room it currently occupies being this:

    Room.jpg

All I can say is that, I suspect a major vinyl upgrade is in my very near future ... along with shipping over most of my LPs from the U.K.!

Oh, I missed the hrs part. I saw Sunny's showing them at T.H.E. Show and thought they did make a difference. I didn't know they had turntable stands.

    The speakers are Linn Akudoriks.

They're currently bi-amped off a Linn Akurate 4200 (the silver thing), but as soon as the Exakt stands arrive, they'll be driven as Akudorik Exakt units. That puts the DACs, FPGA filters, FPGA active digital crossover and driver-matched one-per-channel-per-speaker amps in the stands. That lets me run just ethernet cable to the speakers, and enables advanced room/space correction and per-drive-unit-measured speaker correction.

Even with the current setup, the source unit provides basic room correction, and it's not a particularly "live" space anyway. There's a 35 foot throw beyond the seated listening position before you hit a solid surface, and the walls and floor are not quite what they seem (cables run under the house etc.).

The albums are mounted on <$6 plastic brackets with Auralex foam behind them.

There's a subwoofer you can't see as well ... as all of this is a down-size from my full-size towers in advance of a move to the waterfront.

So I've made a few changes:
    Audio setup.jpg

So there are two systems, the accurate system and the magic system (focused on magical mids). If any of this looks familiar, it's because I bought most of it off of Gaurav.

    The accurate system:
    EAR Discmaster
    Helius Omega Silver Ruby tonearm
    Kiseki Purpeheart cart
    EAR DACute
    EAR 912
    EAR 890
    Marten Bird 2s

    The magic system:
    Scheu Premier
    Schroeder Model 2 tonearm
    Kiseki Purpeheart cart
    Jadis DPMC
    Manley Retro 100
    Blumenstein Orcas

I've come to realize @shaizada has a deep love for the sound I'm looking for in music and so with his guidance, these systems are a reflection of his opinions and tastes as much as mine. I'm not nearly the expert he or many on the forum is on speakers, amps and turntables, but I've heard hundreds of systems and frankly only the sound from Garauv's master touch is the one I've fallen in love with.

I want everyone to hear it, so I'll be having some mini-meet listening sessions soon.

Another Scheu Premier ... Sort of

The basis of this one is a Scheu Premier with the big platter and the upgraded microprocessor controlled motor that's delivered with the Scheu Das Laufwerke top model, but also available as an upgrade for the Premier.

The platter top is metal + carbon fiber from TTW Audio that is glued to the platter. The record weight and the outer ring (not shown) also from TTW Audio. Excellent upgrades for the Scheu.

The tonearm to the right is a Swiss DavinciAudioLabs - Nobile, the tonearm at the rear is a very rare Mission - Mechanic.

I have made a DIY battery supply + charger system (not shown) to run the motor.

The platforms under the turntable and under the motor are DIY designs made of HDF and lexan. Inside are multiple chambers filled with either sand or lead shot. The arm bases are also DIY designs, they are of Wenge and Padauk hardwood, also with internal chambers filled with lead shots. All these platforms made just a big improvement to the sound, as they changed the look.

Cartridges are a special one off custom made Torlai Roberto - Graphite, I use it on the Mission arm. My other cartridge is an Ortofon MC - A90 that's in the Davinci tonearm.

I'm going to drive back to SoCal (came up with the family and made a trip out of all this), so took out a day to setup @drfindley 's setup.

If you get a chance, listen to the setup and see what you think. It might or might not be what appeals to everyone, but it contains the essence of my years and years of audio foolery.

It is the best sound I could create from all parts I have had access to and is the sound I plan to take with me to the grave pretty much. It has my heart, my soul apart from the financial commitment of even getting there.

Thanks to Adam for hearing and appreciating it and now, owning it! But remember, ownership of equipment is highly regarded in the world, yet it is the insignificant part. But more significantly, what you really own is the listening experience in the moment. Adam knows this and I'm really happy he wants to share it with others. That's what it's all about in the end.

PS: that EAR Discmaster is his very own that I was able to get for him. I still have my own and will never ever part with it in this lifetime :) there are a total of 6 in the entire US.

Hahahahahaha! Called it. Said you'd buy Guarav's stuff once he moved on! So glad you got rid of your desk and re-prioritized the arrangements in your room. There is no compromise if you are serious.
