Need some advice on speakers here. I got two of these things in my garage taking up space and wanted to know if they are any good and how can I use them efficiently.
    I have a vintage pioneer vsx-d603s receiver.

Im scaling down my desktop rig to a laptop/phone only setup due to lots of work travel. Have 650s and am looking to pickup some used Andromedas when they come up. Need a portable dac/amp for them. Use an android phone so would probably need some kind of unit between it and the eventual Andromedas. Theres a GOV2 available in Australia that I'm thinking about although i don't think i can use it with my phone and I don't really want to support a company that provides such terrible support to its customers (apparently). Mojo is a possibility but ill take suggestions.

How portable does it have to be? I liked the Micro iDSD a lot more than the Mojo and I have seen mint units go for as low as $300 on the used market. Should pair well with both the 650s and the Andromedas. Although I have the Andromedas now I've only tested the iDSD with the HD600s and Orion.

You could get a FiiO e18 Kunlun. You can pick it up for about $100 with prime shipping.

Totally agree with you on this. The EHHA represents really good value for the money. especially when buying used (around 4-500$). Plenty of power, dynamic and details (plankton?) while still maintains a warm and euphoric tone.
Downsides? DIY only, and good 6GM8 tubes are relatively hard to find. Also, it might be the gateway to the addicting tubz world where wallet suffers the most.

Ehha is no plankton monster, but it's still very good at that. I think Jotunheim might be better at plankton.
Slam though is world class with shunt psu-s. Soundstage is very nice as well. Also, it probably has that Cavalli tone many seem to love.

Long time lover of the 650. I enjoy it even more now with the sublime synergy with the Jot. Question: is there any room for improvement with the dynamat mod?

@zerodeefex - can we make a link to this thread on the main nav or news ticker?

It might help save you and other mods post-facto clean up efforts.

I'll say the GO2A is good but I'd understand if you don't want to go that route. It also works with most Android phones I've tried by itself, but you need the V2+ to work with an iPhone without an external battery.

The Mojo is so f'ing big, you won't use it with your phone.

For the Andromeda, I use it either right out of my phone, with the ZX2 or with the GO2A. @shotgunshane recommends the Dragonfly Red. I don't find it so much better that I want to use it over my phone personally, though. In my experience it lags behind the ZX2 and GO2A so it's not a good move for me.

Yes. I'd add the dynamat mod either way. @Marvey doesn't recommend the foam mod for use with the the Jotunheim, though.

V2+ Infinity has better resolution and nuance than DF Red on my laptop. I haven't managed to make the V2+ Infinity work with my iPhone yet though--will have to look into that.

I haven't heard the infinity version but the regular v2+ was much too bright with the UERM (didn't own Andromeda then) for me. I didn't own the DFR at the same time but I do really enjoy the Andromeda from it.

I haven't found a single portable source that sounds fantastic with all my iems. It seems the more sensitive the iems are, the more picky they seem to be. Unfortunately it seems to come down to subjective synergies. When on the go with portable, tonality is much more important to me than resolution.

Hi everyone. I currently use a Bifrost Multibit and a Lyr2 with Ameperex Orange Globes to drive an HD650. Sound is pretty good, but I'm itching to try balanced so I want to upgrade.

I tend to like a warmer sound, which is why I like the HD650 over the HD600 (as well as the LCD-2 vs HD800, I know I'm crazy). I'm pretty sure I want the Gungnir Multibit as my DAC, but I'm trying to decide between the Mjo2 and the Joti. I'm leaning towards the Mjo2 simply because I can re-use my tubes from the Lyr2 (plus tube rolling), but I've read so much about how great the pairing is between the Joti and the HD650. Given my preference of a "warmer" sound I think the Mjo2 might be safer...

Or should I just go for the Yggdrasil and pair it with the Joti, since I don't think the wife will let me get the Yggdrasil and the Mjo2. LOL!

Yggdrasil and Jotun is not warm in anyway aside from the inherent FR warmth of the hd650s, so I dont know if you'd want that. That's my exact setup right now.

Hows does the GOV2 work off android phones? Does it draw power from the phone somehow via a usb adapter?

Need advice: Toslink vs USB from MacBook Pro.

Right now, Momby is connected to MBP through 1ft. Toslink cable. I've read many opinions about MBP crappy jittery Toslink, but I can't found any reference/benchmark (inclusing SBAF). OTOH, Momby USB line isn't as clean as Bifrost Multibit. Should I connect Momby through USB, or stay on Toslink camp?

Why don't you listen to a few songs with both and report back what you heard? ;)

If you can't hear any difference there probably is none, or it's very small.

    Hi guys,
Building an office rig right now , using hd650 with Tordepo III, should i send bifrost in for multibit upgarde or just order a modibit and sold biforst uber instead? It's nice that i can find some use for my bifrost uber but the small size of modibit is tempting as well !

I think it depends more on whether is it possible for you to leave a personal device online 24/7 at your office? Because I'm sure many people here will swear that those Schiit multibit DACs will need days of warming up once turned off. That can't be convenient for an office use isn't it.
