WTB: OLD Stock HD800 cable (not HD800s)

Okay...second thing we are looking for is an okay condition OLD stock HD800 cable.

Trying to replace a cable on loaner tour that blew up!

But, can't be any alternates. Needs to be stock.

I’ve got one you can have for free. One issue, the plastic near the headphone connectors on both sides started coming off so I covered it with electrical tape. If you want it, it’s yours!

Hey @CEE TEE, really appreciate the efforts you are going to on behalf of our community to help right this wrong.

In case anyone isn't aware, we are looking to replace @ext1's cable that was somehow destroyed while out on a loaner tour.

As far as I know the HD800 cable uses the same type of basic 4x 24-strand OFC copper topology as that supplied with the HD650, 660 etc. even though it's cased differently.
I use strong headphone connectors with an internal clamp as well as double heat-shrink for strain relief - not the poor quality sleeved/friction fit arrangement that Sennheiser uses.
I've built 80+ cables to date for HD800/S owners as well as 100's for various other Sennheiser 2-pin models, all with positive feedback and no failures yet. ( I also give a lifetime limited warranty)

I could use these connectors with a stock Sennheiser cable of which I have a million and 3! Or even take the cable and re-terminate it with new connectors, but logistically it may be easier for me to supply the cable being located in NL.

 

The stock cable is spc. And they likely want fully stock for consistency of reviews.

I have one that is in good condition available for the cost of shipping. @CEE TEE or @gixxerwimp PM me if you still need one.

 

That's a new one on me and I've re-terminated many HD800/820 stock cables.
Can you qualify that claim?
As far as I ascertained during repairs it was simply enamelled copper and tinned for termination at the connectors.

I'd still like to see photos as definitve evidence.
My experience repairing these cables doesn't quite equate to Sennheiser's claim of using SPC conductors.
Maybe there's a US/EU market disparity regarding the cable material. (?)
