    Interesting...
    I love closed-back's so... :)
But their "designs" look just cheaply made like a bunch of already existing OEM headphones (heck, that "HP1" nomenclature is not even "photoshopped"! Jeez!).
Their innards might be different and that's the only interesting thing they have going.

Still, probably going to take one for the team and join the Kickstarter...

    EDIT:

Looked for a bit and --> http://www.amazon.co.uk/In2uit-Electrostatz-Headphones-Compatible-Smartphones-brown/dp/B00TF6GJ6E (amazon says these came out last year...)

Guess I'll take a wait and see first...

Interesting concept! It seems that more companies are into hybrid designs - last year it was only Dharma (what a name for a HF! - wondering if they sent a present to the Dalai lama). The hybrid concept is very appealing on paper, hopefully something good comes out of it. After all other small companies proved they got their stuff together and put up solid products - think Master and Dynamic - and on the Mitchel and Johnson kikstarter page they say they further refined the product. Hopefully the new iteration is better than the previous.

I think they've licensed the technology from IN2UIT, a Taiwanese speaker and loudspeaker driver company. I heard the IN2UIT models that these are based on at the HK electronics fair and wasnt impressed at all. Very colored sound.

The supplier seems to be selling them directly under the Verisonix brand. Interestingly, it's cheaper at M&J's current Kickstarter price. I'm tempted, but I really shouldn't be spending more money on headphones right now. :)

Yeah weren't the electrostatic ones on massdrop but people found rebranded ones for like $40?

Yes. The “electrostatz” by MJ can be found as other rebrands for far less. The MJ2 I’m not sure though, but the MJ1 was including the lower tier MJ models. Some even fancier-looking models that use the same tech and are sold under cyberdrive are available on Amazon too but are not sold and rebranded under Mitchell and Johnson.

Dharma could have pulled it off had they used a better dynamic driver. The bumps in the highs could have been easily tamed.

Above thread from 2016 has some info and speculation. The OP musikluv is a great poster. Mitchell and Johnson came later as another version and maybe not just a total rebrand. There are claims of possibly different tuning and parts. Verisonix apparently supplied parts for the Dharma as well. The Dharma used a 12kHz crossover and these other products are in the 1kHz region varying possibly. Some open back models were/are available too which may be better because some feel the closed variants were hampered by their enclosure. No complaints from the few posters with an open version besides build quality which is the major theme with all these hybrids (excluding dharma). musikluv also went on some tangent about radation from transformers. And did Mitchell and Johnson start as a kickstarter for a product that was already developed and sold so was really a fundraiser for a rebranding at upmarket prices?
