whoa, a gold bar was just delivered by USPS!
gold plates are firm, no flex when pressing on them or on the corners. charging it up now for listening tonight and tomorrow.

edit: on Mac OS X Midi, shows up as:
    Geek Out V2+ Signature 1.5

this should be the same sonic firmware improvements as the GO2A!

Is it still a plastic sandwich?

hm, it may be a plastic sandwich - but this time with firm metal plates that don't move.

am unsure of the number of Special Edition's made, or what comprises SE.
last go round GOV1 the SE was hand matched (measured) components by @LarryHo and/or femto clocks.
but no documentation included in this package box.

very happy that the firmware v1.5 was included, same quality sound as GO2A and zero pips or pops when changing source file resolution on iPad/iPhone using Onkyo HD and single ended IEMs. only the slightest pip when music startup plays going from zero to music - makes sense, Larry isn't a fan of those capacitor (?) or buffers in the chain for quality music delivery after it's flowing.

You got it right. I'm not the fan of putting a cap or caps inside the signal chain.

Got the chance to test LightSpeed Revive with GO?
Several users report back good results. ;-)

Larry.. is the performance here the same or better than the GOv2+/Infinity?

I'm bummed you guys can't let V2+/Infinity users trade for the GO2A.. my hope is you guys have something special for the + in the future.

Gave my demo to @CEE TEE who reviewed it and is handing off to Marv.

Also recieved a second demo on 1.0 firmware so I can flash and compare firmwares.

Sent to Marv. Case is totally great. Solid and nicest design. Good buttons.
SE is definitely more powerful and better for unbalanced phones.
May sound even a tiny bit more spacious and/or layered but could have been my imagination as I held the case longingly (and no it does not get too hot everybody, you will be safe ;)).
Glad I paid for the upgrade, I will now send my V2 in for the un-plastic surgery.
I still have my V1, think it is still good and a slightly tighter/drier presentation.
Didn't want to send my V2 in until I knew that V2a would definitely be better in case and at least the same in sound. Great on both counts, but V2 not obsolete (except that plastic case).

Speaking of V2+, I would love people to share their lightning cable connection solutions here...I'm sure there are some more elegant ways to do this now.

I have the old velcro and velcro on the phone case thing happening and would love something better than CCK + shorty cable. TIA.

despite the cool cable posted by @jowls
IME, have given up on this pipe dream.
a Phone with USB cabling to GOV2+ is not truly portable enough for jacket pocket or back pack.
GOV2+ micro USB connections are not "firm enough" to stay connected when movement occurs.

so, GOV2+ sits in the airline seat pocket in front of me, and the iPhone/iPad connected via a Lightning USB to long LHLabs USB micro cable.
or sits on the desk at work or hotel, or bed for late night listening.

soon as I need to run-around-town (walking, trains, busses) pub food crawling, IEMs go Single Ended into iPhone and screw audiophilia.

Exact same conclusions I've come to after having had my V2+Infinity for the better part of six months... especially the bit about the coupling between the USB micro output port & USB cable on the V2+ not being tight enough. Interestingly, the USB micro charging port is well coupled with a cable.
