@ColdsnapBry I see you on the EDM/rap mojo. Those are two genres I listen to heavily and I find very enjoyable with SW51+& Elex. A bit shocking, but I find myself preferring Elex & SW51+ over HD6Xx & SW51+ these days. The Elex' higher sensitivity and SW's lower power gives lots of play on the SW before it starts to feel strained.

@FlySweep I need to give this a shot then! As I've decided to endgame the SW51+, so having another synergistic headphone can around would be great.

I've had the SW51+ about as long as I've had the Elex.. combo has definite synergy in a number of areas. SW51+ & Elex is wonderful from a tonal perspective, but I find bass quality lacking. Also, the stage narrows enough to where it's bothersome.
Ultimately, I think I prefer Elex driven by amps with <5 ohm OI.

More curious about a DAC that synergizes with the Jot2 & Elex than the amp.

Gungnir MB A2 > Jot2 > Elex ftw.

Are there any such things too warm for Elex? lol I always thought they often crossed my "northern" borderline of comfortable zone.

BF2 > DSHA3F > Elex was one of the sweet spots I've ever experienced. J2 not much different from 3F in tonality/brightness. And I never thought that combo warm or dark.

No, rather, when the amp is warm, but turning it off and replacing with cold tubes and then back on, the sound is more expansive than with the warmed-up tubes that were replaced.

I understood. The cold tubes come to the desired mode for a while. At this time, their parameters are not the same as those of a hot tube. In order to hear this, you need a very sharp and trained ear.

I can only see such small changes using measuring instruments.

..Old cord was a hospital grade (gray) power cord I bought off amazon (ti's logged well over 500 hours). Don't get it twisted and chase some crazy boutique shit.. but a decent chi-fi power cord (<$100) off ebay could be a nice step up in sound.. provided it's not made of chicken wire or whatever.

When you go "Patrick" please record it...

Elex & HD6XX. The stock tube is really nice.. and I hate to be hyperbolic.. but the Tungsram smokes it handily. Dynamics are just.. wow. Resolution and timbre, especially midrange timbre are on another level compared to the stock tube. The Tungsram combines a lot of things I like about my other tubes into one.

Gives a serious jolt when a sleepy dac like the Modi 3 is in the chain. Thing is, the Tungsram is not an aggressive/forward tube.. but it's not laid back (of course).. just bold, very holographic, resolving, balanced, and dynamic. Pairs exceedingly well with the Elex & HD6XX.

Good looking out. I'll have to try a coupla those whenever a SW51+ finally migrates to my door to go with my trusty HD6xx's. Sounds uncannily up my alley. Everything you're describing is exactly what I like about what a Phillips PCC88 does to a Vali 2.

I do one pass ATG with my Mongoose razor and a Feather Super blade!!!

Haven't tried a Feather.. think I'll grab it in the next sample pack. That's a damn sexy razor, too!

I prefer the stiffer blades of a single edge razor, I can get a closer shave in a single pass.

One of the less praised aspects of the SW51+ pairing is that it minimizes, if not eliminates, the the 'metallic' quality of the Elex drivers. Back to the Amperex.. man, it needs a while to open up.. sounded dynamically compressed for a decent amount of time. Not anymore!

Yeah I was a big fan of the pairing, but unfortunately had to let my Clear go since I didn't use it that often.
