I don't know about a song specifically, but 2 recordings that come to mind would be Mahler's 3rd Symphony (I like the Chailly treatment) and an album by Ry Cooder called "Meeting By The River." Mahler's 3rd has BIG macrodynamics, huge cymbal crashes and whatnot. The Ry Cooder album has a lot of tabla playing, which is great for assessing tactility/tangibility and microdynamics.
I like Shostakovich's Symphony No.5 In D Minor, but really, just use something you're really familiar with that you know has big drop/dynamic swings. A lot of my evaluation is listening to crappy pop and various genres of rock.
Thanks! My music library primarily contains 80s and 90s pop and rock music and wanted to hear better/easier examples to better demonstrate dynamics. Much appreciated!
