Funny, I was just doing research this weekend, and I landed on those for my space too. I remember hearing the old ones in showrooms way back in the 80's, but I was impressed with other things at the time.
I need to be able to push the speakers right up to the back wall in my living room (despite it being a large room), so these seem to fit the bill perfectly. I'm planning on getting the 3000's.
@Syzygy what are the odds! Same situation here as far as placement issues. Had been on the klipsch Forte due to this, but not convinced I will like the klipsch sound. Measuring space when I move in a few weeks, but will be 3000/4000 for me. What electronics are you thinking? Sounds like they like lots of power.
I haven't started researching power. I don't know if they're biamp-able, but if so my initial thought was dual Aegir for mids/highs and a Vidar for the bass.
But honestly I'll prolly start with Aegir since I tend to like class-A, with a tube preamp. Back in the 80's I used a Heath/Zenith 500W class A.
I wish I could rock a nice Schiit stack for this, but trying to go for an integrated/one box solution to keep my wife happy. Trying out Naim Uniti Nova now, and frankly in a glowing honeymoon phase with it right now, granted with very different speakers. Ohm folks suggested I might be happier with something with more juice though. Guess a super integrated audition phase is in my future.
Yeah I expect I'll need the Aegir+ or whatever higher-output offering Schiit releases (or just Vidar).
It likely won't be fully-purchased for me until next year; this year's budget is pretty jam-packed already. But I am starting to jones for nice 2-ch again…it's been decades; so maybe I'll rearrange a couple of things.
