Implying you have an open circuit, first thing to check is the lead out wire. See if it's work hardened/ broken. If the lead out is fine, then it's a coil fault. could be a result of a few different things. Either heat, vibration, manufacturer defect or coil rub. You can sometimes find a new cone with coil on the internet. Not worth replacing in some cases.
Yeah I did check the lead wire, looks fine.
I guess the speakers are just broken, and this guy on craigslist just screwed me over out of $100, but oh well.
