official air quality report stopped at 6pm at over 100 for 2.5 particulates. Has to be at least 3 times worse right now. wind has picked up but not sure it will be much help.
btw, I am NOT opposed to BBQ pit smell in the house. except it would be improved if animal fats were actually dripping onto the coals instead of ash falling from the sky.
Had a week in the Portland OR area where the AQI was around 400 due to smoke. Bad. Try using PurpleAir to get local air quality. Use the "US EPA" correction to get numbers more consistent with the official EPA air quality numbers for air full of smoke.
Here's an article that explains the corrections for PurpleAir and why the US EPA correction is now recommended for measuring smoke: https://tinyurl.com/yywrpmpc
thanks @Hammy for the PurpleAir docs. ya'll should also know that bixby's avatar is a dead ringer match for @bixby IRL. more so than any other avatar on SBAF. :)
It got so bad in Southern California this year that I went out and bought three HEPA air purifiers From Costco and they helped so much. It has gotten so bad at our house.
A purpleair AQI of 575? Yikes! Is that with the US EPA correction? When the Portland area was over 400 I was waring a KN95 mask even when inside at home. Tried wearing one while sleeping but couldn't get it to stay on once I fell asleep. I had a sore irritate throat for more than a week after the air cleared.
