I guess there are things that a company would not want to publicly clarify. In a Chinese saying "There is no fish in the clear water", here be fish.

It's public knowledge. New front panel (with remote capabilities and NOS mode). Swapping parts with a screwdriver is one thing. Programming for a new front panel functions is wholly another. Anyone who asks if they can be given firmware to program via an RJ45 is being unreasonable. So far no one has asked.

We should have clarity on this matter now with respect to old chassis to +.

The + / + board upgrades, that's another question. Just let it play out. Remember, SBAF people are special ;) And no, one one is going to be F'ing publicly clear on this, ever. Hopefully that makes things clear.

Wasn't aware the mainboard also needed a firmware update, having to include something like an rj45 to usb/serial adaptor because the rom is soldered on the board seems a bit much. I would be quicker to trust people with mechanical stuff then flashing and possibly bricking the board.

I've flashed a few boards in my time, and just when you think you did it right you brick the thing.
Uart, Jtag, CH341a, Ponoma clips, Pincer probes, Baud rate are all so finicky.

Interesting. I sold my A2 after I stopped listening to it with Stellaris, 3F, and various ZMF headphones: louder complex jazz passages were too dense, tangled, overwhelming. In contrast the same A2 with Hegel 360 amp and KEF Reference 1 speakers worked really well, everything well separated even in more extreme passages. My current headphone setups have Holo DACs with HQPlayer upsampling+DSD256 modulation, which seem to roughly match your comparison of MIL-B vs A2. Those loud complex passages are not tangled at all. To give an intuitive take, A2 seemed to "project" those passages to a lower-dimensional space where different instruments got conflated, while my current setups keep them in higher dimension so each separate instrument, each separate string, is discernible. Looks like I should try the MIL-B...

Looks like MIL is no longer available on the site. Pending MIL-F? :punk:

I am ready. I was too lazy to put the (non-+) Yggdrasil back together the last time I took it apart in a kind of Marv/Dave from Schiit naked Yggdrasil config (although it looks like Marv has been running it reassembled recently), so uh, should be easy. Can't say I heard an improvement, though, sorry Dave. :D

I think "More Is Better" sounds best and fits the theme of "Less Is More" in reverse.

That goes against Schiit's norm of declaring a "best"... they typically let the consumer decide what they think sounds best

“More Is Less Better” has a nice tautological kind of thing going for it and fits with MIL-B, I guess.

I do think Jason hinted at “More Is Better” as a possibility over at the Schiit Happened thread on HF, though.

@JasonStoddard, perhaps naming it "11B", that name recalls classic gear of the past. Marantz 10B, 120B, 8B, etc.

I still stand by the statement i made a while ago that there should be Nintendo style flavor cartridges for the Yggdrasil. Pop in the Super Mil-F bro's cartridge and have fun.

Half of Schiit's customer service calls are gonne be "Sir, have you tried taking the dac card out, blowing on it, and putting it back in?"

@purr1n How does the MIL-F compare to some of the better implemented AD1955 DAC's?
