Used Deals Thread

In truth I was hoping to summon more realistic pricing of used ZMFs across the board, which tend on the side of the ridiculous, that low-priced Auteur aside, but alas. I'm not sure if even most of the ZMFs listed on head-fi actually ever sell, to be honest.

 

Frankly, the ZMF lineup absolutely baffles me. I really want to buy a nice personalized statement piece, but I have no idea what combination of phones and pads would suit my taste. I was so sure that I would love the Verite open, but I found them thin and distant at a recent meet - not for me at all. Gives me real pause.

So, unless I can go to a meet with several different options, my only plan of attack is to invest big money to churn through all the countless options. A big game of musical headphones. And maybe I get stuck with a crappy prize that I don't like, and no one wants to take it from me.

It's a real risk for such a high priced item. I wonder how many of those Head-Fi folks are in the same boat.

I recently learned that stock ZMF headphones purchased at full price can be returned for a 10% fee, so in this sense, they can be demoed (additional limitations apply). However, imagine paying Canadian customs 2 or 3 times and 20% or 30% fee on headphones... Yeah, I don't know...

 

You haven't met him yet, but Vince local to us has an Aeolus (at least I think that's it) that you can try out.

 

Yep, being in Canadialand absolutely kills that prospect.

She is a beauty, and it sold pretty quick. The JAR800S I recently got has redefined the fit of my electrostatic setup. I’ll post impressions soon, but the clarity and speed of the JAR800S is out of this world, and Jupiter has removed the etchy glare and let the mids shine through.

 

In my experience Jupiter Lee really knows what he's doing.
