The infestation is the little ones. We have carpenters in the bldg too, but have only seen a couple inside so far. Abamectin + Borax + waiting...

Vinegar is your friend, especially on sugar ants. Avoids possible poisoning animals and friendly, useful insects.

I've had good results with those ant traps, but Bob's idea does sound better. Either way, good luck.

We've been invaded multiple times and vinegar has always worked well for us on the outdoor side. Inside we put down natural desiccants. No sick pets, no lost ladybugs but plenty of dead ants.

Ground cinnamon sprinkled in the path of grease ants coming in a crack from the outside works very well too. And your vacuum smells nice when you hoover it up.

Used to use some orange-based spray which kept them out of the kitchen, but it was expensive and they stopped selling it here. USA product, I think, although an Indian company.

Have had two termite infestations. Not much choice but to let the pest control folk use their full-on poisons.

Yeah, termites call for full chemical warfare - no prisoners, no mercy!

Termites and carpenter ants call for all out war with extreme prejudice.
