    Nope. I'm still confused.

    Most people object to *lossy* compressed. And it can be objectionable.

    Compressed, but lossless... same music comes out as went in. Not audio science, computer science.

    Uncompressed... same as lossless compressed but huge files. But a computer-audiophile creature might find fictional reasons that it is better and /doesn't/ make anybody's head hurt.

    @Thad E Ginathom No no I meant not dynamic range compressed. The audiophile recordings and stuff, like Chesky recordings for example.
    When things get very loud and quiet too often is really fatiguing to my head.

    Lossless files like FLAC is actually less fatiguing as I find them noticeably smoother than lossy stuff.

    Oh, /that/ compression! Sure. Sorry.

    Most of us, though, want less of that compression and more dynamic range. Even if it does mean more volume fiddling.

    Mind you, I hate that superaudiophile-recording thing where you can tell when the guitarist last cut his nails.
