Pro: comments that HD800 can be driven to it's awesome full potential by the amp I already have. I want to listen to more classical but am frustrated with current setup. Lightweight. Random people say good stuff about 800/800S/8xx.

Con: Cost. How different can it really be to the Clears? Shouldn't I get a quality planar / ribbon / horn set instead? Random people say bad stuff about 800/800S/8xx.

When in doubt, acquire more gear!!!! In all seriousness though the HD8XX V2 is the only electrodynamic that has piqued my interest in like 15 years. I'd like to hear one. Not sure I'll buy one new though. But I just got a great HD800 amp... And yes, you should definitely get more orthos. Always more orthos.

For classical, I think the OG 800 is significantly better than the OG Clears. I like both and have each for different purposes. I can't comment on the 8XX specifically but I'd hope this would hold true for them too. When you get orthos, best to get RD to mod them. :-D

@loadexfa I thought the new HD8xx come with the best HD800 mods of the past decade, factory installed.. I wouldn't want to frustrate @rhythmdevils with an impossible task!

Don’t they have a 30 day return policy? Try them, and return if you don’t like them. Or flip them while they’re hot, you’ll lose little.

Haha, I meant you want RD to mod orthos if you get them too. He is allergic to dynamics, modding them could kill him. :-D

I agree with Merrick, the risk is pretty low with some minor loss with shipping costs (if you return).

I'm with @Merrick. I've felt a hole in my existence ever since I sold my HD800SDRs. only halfway joking. Been itching to have 800s to pair with the Elekit - I feel like the pairing will be sublime given performance with HD600s.

Return is not so easy from overseas. Drop are not accepting non-US orders anymore, so maybe there will be demand to flip.

Yeah, unless many people hate them, you should be able to flip at a small loss. Considering the impressions so far I doubt that will be the case.
