And there's some sad news about those 24 bits you're sending to the DAC. They don't all make it through.

Ya have to set it to 18bits for Bifrost 2. I hope that’s alright.
I guess Morpheus can do 24bit but haven’t checked with it yet

I was able to change the sound towards a more relaxed presentation for late night session. Have to try it again just to rule out placebo

Jussi (Miska) recommended 18 bits to me for the Bifrost 2 on another board. You still benefit from the rate and filters. I have played with a bunch of options - some successful. Check out the Yggdrasil LIM topic - there is a bit of discussion there about HQPlayer and Schiit DACs.

@Justin S are you using NAA or USB connection? How well Pi based NAA work? I am planning to use Pi2AES with Pi3B+ running RopieeXL as NAA for Morpheus

Both. I have an Allo DigiOne that I use in my office and Pi2AES in my home system. The Pi2AES is the better sounding. I use Riopiee XL on both. I also go direct USB sometimes - I prefer the NAA. Riopiee does some funky network stuff sometimes. Diet Pi OS NAA is more functionally consistent, but it's not as user friendly. I didn't detect any difference in how they sound.

I find it still to bring value with my Pavane. YMMV.
