The stock 650 cable is good but long. If you’re into different metallurgy and gauge, it will cost you.
Blue Jeans Cable offers relatively inexpensive headphone cables. They use good wire from Canare and will cut the length and terminate the ends to your specifications.
I prefer the sound of the HD650 cable over many many many aftermarket cables. I've re-terminated HD650 cables for use with HD600, HD6XX, JAR600, etc.

@purr1n What's the difference between the hd580 and hd650 connectors (on the headphone side)? or are you just re-terminating the amp side?
