The M4s have quite an obvious ~ 2dB to 2.5dB boosted bass shelf from 20Hz to 65Hz. I checked it with a tone generator. To fix that, I use jamesDSP app on my main desktop that runs an Arch Linux Distro/OS. So I apply negative of the above, and it sounds quite balanced, seems to respond well to EQ. Overall the FR of the Hp is quite impressive.
Keep in mind this is a technically capable BTH headphone first and in the HP quality scale they are just ok, decent mid-tier. It would be unrealistic to expect much more I guess.
Some questions remain. 1. Can this be modded to sound more balanced in the bass section. 2. How are these driven with the TRS jack. I am not 100% sure these are driven straight from outside source.
Listening to Daft Punk "Tron Legacy" - Recognizer, I can confirm that the bass response on this is quite remarkable. It has weight in the bass that few Hps have.
