    Yes, I did this by accident. Actually, mine was delivered with the lower gain tube (that I think was also an accidental mistake). I've since switched to the correct gain, so I only ran this way for about a year.

    I know its a different amp, but I use a 6SN7 instead of a 6SL7 in my A&S Mogwai all the time. Change was approved by Justin @ A&S and he indicated that the 2 tubes were essentially identical, except for the lower gain on the 6SN7.

    Craig replied and doesn't recommend it as it has twice the heater current. I hesitated messaging him as he's retired as far as I know but I wanted to be absolutely sure.
