The LG CX is the only panel I've seen that satisfied me after having a VT60, and even then it wasn't night and day improvement in my environment. OLED is definitely fantastic and the way to go if the budget allows but man, pour one out for those panny plasmas. I don't think I'll ever be as shocked by a display upgrade as when I went from a Toshiba LCD to one of those. Anyway, apply the "bigger in texas" rule and just project movies onto your garage door.

Exactly. 55" OLED for in-house TV. Projector for going big.

I'm still rocking my 58 inch Panny Plasma. It turned 10 years old on November 24th.

My VT50 just turned 8. It's a shame the tech didn't last, these are wonderful panels.

Too power-hungry for the European market (and other markets that care for the environment).

Well. This became my setup. The 65" CX was too good to pass up at a refurb price and so it's this and the projector.

That TV is the bomb, yo! Enjoy! Anything in Dolby Vision really shows off its capabilities.

Polished off Godzilla 2014 on Vudu. Doing king of the monsters, skull island then Godzilla vs Kong. I'll then go back and watch my UHD BR of Shin Godzilla to cleanse my palate of that american garbage.

I've been on a Godzilla kick the last few days. I hadn't seen any of the films apart from Kong Skull Island. I thought Godzilla vs Kong was the worst of the new ones, but really, if you don't want a story and only want monke vs. lizard go boom, then its kick ass. Does what it says on the tin kind of film. I'm just finishing King of monsters tonight (I watched them all out of order.) Epic.

Ken Watanabe saying "His name...is.......Gojira" made me laugh unreasonably hard. So intense.

    Hi everyone.
I am looking for a 65" TV with a budget of $800-1300 USD.
It's for movies and TV shows in a usually dim or dark room for two or three people setting directly in front of the TV, so viewing angles is not that important.

The best TV I found is this one, but again I am totally noob to TVs so idk if there is a better option at this price range.

If you have a Micro Center closeby, you can get a refurbished (by LG) 65” LG CX OLED (2020 model) for $1,399.

Did this when they were $1299, opened it, complained about the scratches on the back and they refunded me $150 to not return it.

One thing to note - even with the mitigation techniques and features, the perfect pixel response is jarring for 24p content pans. It will take some time for your brain to adjust.

I’ve read this is one advantage of the C1 over the CX, as LG added a new motion smoothing technique that’s lighter than what was offered before, basically just to help with the 24p stutter if viewers are sensitive to it.

I plan on sticking with my 50” Samsung F8500 plasma until it dies.

Yeah, the last TV I bought was 10 years ago for $350 at Fry's, hah. I figured we'll keep this for a decade at least. We turn it on maybe 2-3 times a week although I suspect I am going to try to get some ratchet and clank rift apart in.

I picked up a CX 77 and the first unit they sent was damaged in transit. It is still sitting in my hallway a year later, but it's calibrated brother is sitting in my living room doing battlefield 4 and blu ray duty in my HTPC setup and the Sony XBR moved to another room for netflix and chill. It is a toss-up between the two, but of course the gives and takes were to be expected. The 4K 120hz is pretty awesome and the color is probably better too. I still could live the rest of my life with the 55" XBR - it is a beautiful picture that just is a lit bit slow for young people playing professional video games.

I still also have one of Sony's last flat screen tube CRT's in the heavy weight category. It is amazing that technology flaunts all these things, but at the end of the day - business is business and they already had the job done. Too bad rooms got larger as families got larger and video games needed to be more ADD.

I roamed the city and I did not find any of those, but what I did find is a discount on a showroom unit of the LG C1 that I grabbed. More expensive than what I intended but I think it's worth it especially because I am a nocturnal kind of a person.

I recently got a 65” lg cx too and I’m so happy with it. It’s a hell of a lot more convenient than my projector set up

    Dude!! this!!

We bought home a Sony 77" A80J last night and i am blown away by how good it is. It was prompted after i redeemed some rewards points for a 50 inch X90J full array LED TV for the bedroom a month back and I found myself wanting to come back to the bedroom to watch shows and stuff than on the 92 inch screen we had for the projector.

Replacing the 92” screen + HD Optoma HDR27SE projector setup.
Was sold on the Sony TV when I got the 50” X90J for the bedroom. Image quality was readily noticeable over the projector but this is next level gorgeous

still figuring out whether to wall mount or go in on an entertainment center. Using end tables to prop them up for now
