FS: Glenn OTL headphone amplifier. As new

I ordered this at @zach915m 's recommendation in 2018, knowing nothing about the amp. In October 2023 he showed up and said "Here's the amp!" "Great," I said, "WTH do I do with this now?"

I still know nothing about this amp. I don't even remember how much I paid for it in 2018. Seriously, no idea. Don't know if its 'special' or a run-of-the-mill Glenn. Any comments in the thread as to what this is would be welcome.

From what I can tell by the post-it-note documentation:

3DG4\ 5AU4 or equivalent rectifier
6SN7 \ 12SN7 \ 25SN7 or equivalent input
6A57 \ 6J5 \ 12J5 \ L63 or equivalent power tubes

I dug up a 3DG4, a 6SN7, and some WE 421As from somewhere and whoah, sound, so it works.

So here's the deal: Because I don't like MMAO posts, I'm offering this unit with one tube, a Sylvania 3DG4 rectifier, for $2500 shipped to Friends\Pyrates. I have no idea if that's fair or not, if its not tell me. Any interested Friends \ Pyrate is free to make me a counter-offer. Or people are free to suggest a 'better' price i should sell it at, either at SBAF or somewhere else.

I always wanted to try an OTL that was higher up than the ole reliable BH Crack.

If i didnt put payment down on an end game amp i would grab this just out of curiosity of what a serious OTL could do.

 

What a beauty. I have the solid state rectification version of this one, and I love it. I bet this tube rectified version would sound even more to my liking, but I'm happy with my guy.

@bigjako , as in ALL those tubes can be used in this thing ? If thats the case I might have to include a smorgasbord of rectifiers to roll. Hmm...

 

Glenn made amps for the quintessential tube roller's dreams. There are such wonderful combinations this amp can run. His amps are also going the way of the unicorn, so this is a great opportunity for someone to grab on to!

 

Don't quote me that you have free reign to roll them all, but yes, my understanding is that you can roll all of them (though there are some exceptions that Zachik notes, like you can't run 3 pairs of 6080s). Just pay attention to the Notes column and ask in the HF thread if you have any uncertainty.

 

Imma blow it up and sell the smoking remains.
