I know someone selling this. 100lbs monster. $1000 will get it outright. It's currently on eBay for $799. They go for $2000 new. Craig's heard this and he says it sounds good. I have not heard it.

Vincent/Sheng Ya SP-993 Class A Stereo Power Amplifier

Vincent audio products are manufactured in China by a company named Sheng Ya, and are sold world-wide under both the Vincent and Sheng Ya brand names. This SP-993 has the Shang Ya name on the faceplate, and has a rack mount front panel, as well as on the rear. Since this thing is incredibly heavy, at over 66 pounds, this makes it much easier to move around by 2 people. I special ordered this amp direct from Sheng Ya in 2002, since I do a lot of work in China, and the rack mount faceplate was a custom order feature. I have never had any reliability problems with this amp in the 13 years I’ve had it, and it works perfectly, and sounds extremely smooth and natural. This is a serious audiophile product. I work in the audio industry, and many have commented on how good this amp sounds, with amazing bass, and silky smooth highs, undoubtedly due to the Sanken power transistors. The build quality, fit and finish and attention to detail fall into the near Krell-like category, and is truly amazing for a Chinese factory, given the typical reputation. However, I have visited the Sheng-Ya factory, and the workmanship and fanatical devotion to excellence is unmistakable. They even wind their own transformers, because they tell me that typical Chinese transformers are simply not good enough. Original list price for this model was $3,499.00. This example is in near mint condition, with very few signs of age. It has both balanced and single-ended inputs, and double sets of binding posts for bi-wiring. From Sheng Ya:

The design goal was to implement the high sonic standard of the SP 991 mono amps in one case. Hence 24 Sanken power transistors per channel deliver about 400W into 4 Ohms, 200W into 8 Ohms, & 50W into 8 Ohm in pure Class-A operation. Switching from Class-A to AB mode is automatically carried out by the amplifier if there is a need to do so. Mostly, the amp operates in pure Class A. In order to further enhance the pure sound of this amplifier its energy supply has been divided to make the power stage work as a voltage source as well as a current source.

    Frequency range: 10 Hz - 20 kHz +/- 0.5 dB
    Nominal output power Class-A 8 Ohm: 2 x 60 Watt

    Input sensitivity: 2 V
    Total harmonic distortion: < 0.1 % max. (1 kHz, 1 Watt)
    Signal-to-Noise Ratio: > 95 dB

Damn I wish I wasn't in Canada... Shipping would be killer for that beast. I've been looking for a decent amp, never heard of Sheng Ya but I'm sure it sounds nice. Someone and a strong friend will be happy.

I'd love to see the insides of a 100lbs amp.

I guessing several monster transformers make up most of the weight.

It looks like the power supply is set for 230V and that one would need a step up transformer to run it in the US (which is not at all a dealbreaker). Is this correct, or can it also run/be switched to 120V?

it says it's only 66 pounds...that doesn't need 2 people. even if it being 100lbs wouldn't need two people i would think... looks interesting though.
