Sorry to hear about the unemployment (although I never found it boring. Perhaps because I have a bottomless ability to do little or nothing for days, week, years!)

Iirc the 502 can get power from the Pi or you can feed it 5v through the barrel connector if you set a jumper switch. Not quite as good as the pi2aes but better than hifiberry and the like… definitely a good deal if you want to dip your toes in the Pi as a streamer waters.

But seriously, this and Senn HD580/600 and the AKG K701 (or some would argue the 600 family) were the "big 3" back in the day.
