So in the end would you recommend @Decomo's configuration or yours above? I'm in half a mind to do this to my pair...

Also, what did you use to cut the holes so accurately?

Yes, great point. I actually put 5 large holes (1 center & 4 outer) and 4 smaller holes around center and comfort is fine and definitely like the sound. :)

I've done the Kramer mod and changed the earpads on my KSC-75, but never considered putting dynamat on the driver cover. Brilliant. I'm gonna give that a try. Fun headphone to practice or learn some modding skills with.

What are those funky ear pads?

Looks like they would be comfy. Just wondering how the sound differs from the stock flat foam pads?

My opinion on sound is not worth much, but in a quick comparison against unmodded portapro foam pads they sound better in almost every way. Increased bass, treble sparkle, and clarity. It might create problems that I don't hear, but it I prefer the pleather pads.

Keep in mind I'm using KSC-75s. I don't have portapros here right now to compare, but my guess is the bass might become overwhelming.

The replacement pads are only $2. Get a pair to play around with.
