I finally picked one of these things up after reading about them in the latest AudioXpress magazine.

    haecoax

I have a handful of SACD discs and have been bypassing the DAC and using the RCA out from my SACD player when I play them, I thought this would be a cool solution to be able to run the full signal through the dac. I am not getting coax signal pass through for some reason and am not sure if this is a unit malfunction or if my HDMI cable is not allowing the signal through. I use whatever off the shelf HDMI cables I happen to have but thought the standard supported 192/24 in native form. I didn't consider that the yamaha SACD player I have may not support this function - I had been looking at the OPPO recently as I have a few DVD-A concerts which would be neat to play through the system.

would getting a cable that has the necessary faerie dust help? I must be something so daft that when I figure it out I will crawl back under my little rock.

I can upload the article if I can figure out how to do it. (nope - file too large)

Well it turns out my SACD player has a problem putting out a PCM signal over HDMI?? Not sure that even makes sense, but I switched to the bluray player and I have full PCM signal to DAC ( not downsampled as would normally be the case )

Now to play about some more
