Loaner: Verum 2

What's the deal with the EU ?

Since I am in Ireland, I would love to give it a listen, write up my impressions, and pass it on to someone.

 

I don't mind If SBAF will arrange EU tour. The more people will listen to them - more feedback I'll have.

 

Received from @MisterRogers. Noticed something weird on the right driver upon initial pad swap, following up with @Garuspik to see if it's anything.

 

@Soups - thanks for notification and detailed photo. I see minor physical damage that looks like a a contact of finger and membrane Will not affect performance. No blaming from my side. Who knows? What if that was my finger?
It's a test unit and I test durability also.

 

Ill try to fix one but its up to @Garuspik to determine who may be involved. Usually its friends and contributors only but, again, I'll try to see if its possible first, after the US loaner is done, and then I'll update in good time.

 

@Walderstorn - the more people will participate in tour, the more opinions i'll hear. I can only say thanks to those people.

Hello guys, not sure how the tour works but I would like to participate if the EU tour ends up happening. I think I can give great feedback. I can compare it do Dan Clark Noir and Focal Clear...

I am also Industrial Designer working at Dygma.com - I can give some hints and suggest constructive improvements for manufacturing if this might be of help.

I am already a backer since this morning and I am ok in making a call with anyone to prove I am legit. Nice job @Garuspik I am looking to hear those beauties!!

@julie Received in excellent condition and full working order.

 

The balanced cable just lost the left channel, the other cable is fine. Balanced sounds MUCH better out of the MJ3


Will trouble shoot tomorrow

 

I should have mentioned that I didn't use the stock cables. Just my own aftermarket ones that I was using with the V1. That was something I didn't even check.

 

All good, it was already brought up earlier in the thread that the XLR was wonky

 

@julie Update, Seems the left channel connectors are fine (both 3.5mm and xlr). So I tried taking an inch off of the XLR side and checking continuity (ground is fine, it's the signal wire)... no go. Tried taking off inches at a time until the cable is only 3.5' long and still no continuity. Cable is probably broken inside somewhere near the Y. I ordered another cable from Amazon and will have it on Saturday (will donate it to the loaner, so others can listen balanced). Is it ok to hold onto the loaner for 2 extra days? I feel the Verum 2 is significantly better balanced out of the MJ3.

@Garuspik I think I made up a XLR cable for the Verum 1 loaner? It's the same wiring as HiFiman, correct?

 

@JK47 - thanks for your help and sorry for the inconveniences. I've improved soldering techniques, added shrink tubes and other things to prevent bending but can't solve the problem when wir broke somewhere inside. I've changed supplier of cables and now checking it for consistency.
Yes, same pinout as hifiman. Made for compatibility.
