Hello guys. I'm going to get an inexpensive dac to pair with my Vali and HD650. The logical choice is the Modi 2. I don't need any of the advanced features of the Uber (will only use USB), but I am looking to get the best bang for my buck. To get to the point I will ask, does the Uber sound better than the regular model? It's only $50, but i'm kinda pinching my pennies here.

There's no difference sound quality wise, but the regular non Uber is entirely powered by usb which may cause problems as the power filtering doesn't work well in my experience. I used a bunch of USB dacs with no problems, but I had noise from the Modi 2. Upgrading to the Uber solved the noise issue as it's analog section is mains powered.

So I'd recommend just get the Uber so you don't have to deal with potential usb noise.

I just got the Bifrost Multibit! I guess it's time to sell my modi 2 uber. It is only 3 month old. I may sell it around modi 2 price. If you want it, just let me know. I may post it on ebay later. ;)
