Hi - Music lover, Mixing engineer, prefers clean, undistorted audio - wire + gain, kind of sound (no valves, or warmers in the audio path).

Moving away from traditional studio gear, to consider benefiting from improvements in HiFi, ChiFi, and the measurement brigade - such as this website and ASR. Always willing to learn more. I am NOT an electrical engineer, but a music engineer.

I'd be glad if I can use the knowledge gleaned here to stop wasting money on better gear that is beyond the threshold of human hearing, and focus on getting what I need, not gear for bats and dogs with special hearing, I'm human.

I'm especially keen to marry information on both measurements as well as real life usage. Hate spending money if I do not need to, hoping that the knowledge gleaned here will enable me buy what I need, not what the advertisers and influencers "promote". Joined a while ago, but I think this is my 1st post.

Not a lot to say. Been into audio hi-fi stuff for twenty odd years. Started out as a headfi member years ago but got discouraged with the lack of opinions from experienced folks.

Been reading threads around here for five or so years. Figured I'd start an account to now that I might have some interesting points to contribute.

Also, forgot I made this profile about 1.5 years ago but then mehed out of it thinking my opinions wouldn't really benefit anyone. Giving it another shot, hope I can keep the signal to noise ratio relatively low. : )

Saying Hello to everyone. A friend and member suggested this forum. I hope that replies to this thread are the procedure for introduction. I am not heavy into headphones, more 2 channel. I’ve had a series of vintage stuff, my favorite being a Fisher 500 C receiver. Tube / 60’s era. Interested in amplification especially tube and how things work as well as how things sound. I listen a good amount daily and currently with a el34 amp, speakers and streaming to dac. Its a fun and rewarding journey overall. I enjoy seeing others systems and hearing philosophy and experiences. One thing I find inspiring and intriguing is no two systems sound the exact same, and if so its a rarity

Hello, I am SofaSamuraiX, I love music and the stuff to listen to it. I get strange looks because I have a micro seiki bl-31 and speakers in my living room and no TV. Love headphones to bits. Glad to be here. I love hearing opinions, not much into arguing but can get real into it... Thanks for having me.

Hello from Chennai, been into Hi-Fi since the last 15 years, I listen to digital for ease of use and convenience more into 2 channel stereo than headphones, and I listen to Vinyl when ever time permits. Started off with Vinyl 3 years back and the journey into the analog world has been wonderful. Happy to be a part of Super Best Audio Friends :) .

    Greetings SBAF,

I don't know what I am supposed to post here, so here goes nothing.

I am new here. I am an audioholic and have been suffering from such miladies for many years. It started many years ago when only AM radios were in cars and has gotten worse ever since. The addiction heightened in college the first time I heard monolith planars. Having a high end store 3 blocks from my first professional job tempted my audio lust. Yes, I have lusted in my heart. Maggie 20's in all her glory was a torment for such a young lad with empty pockets and college bills to pay off. I knew she was looking for someone with deeper pockets, but that didn't discourage me.

If I understood the applications of DSP back then could be applied to audio, I would have procured a PhD in math. Maybe Maggie would have smiled on me earlier if I did (broker, with more school debt and a pedigree) ???

Not much into headphones or tubes. Am more into 2-channel, DIY and PC audio after owning multiple sand-stacks and of course a long relationship with Maggie. Looking to learn more about FIR filter design and application as well as writing my own Linux software tools and modifying open source code to address my obsessions and OCD.

Found SABF by following search results on filter threads in progress. Hope to learn from those more learned than me.

    Hi fellow enthusiasts,

I've been around the hobby for awhile and its my tool for the goal of listening to audio. My real hobby is listening and not buying. Don't get me wrong, I like gear and gadgets. I like speakers, headphones and iems. I've had tinnitus since I was in my teens but I never really determined the root cause and I've been living with it since. It doesn't bother me. If you're struggling with it feel free to send me a message. I don't claim to be an expert but I can relay my experiences.

    Hi all!

I'm starting my journey in the HiFi world since I like to appreciate some high quality tracks in the meaningful way, at least to what my ears could permit me to do. I'm an electronics engineer and really like to mess with some stuff, so I found a lot of useful info on DAC and other hardware mods inside this amazing forum and decided to join.

Surely I'll be making a lot of silly questions (for which I haven't found an answer in the search box), but hey, it's a learning curve and I hope that someday I could contribute to the overall knowledge database :) Thanks for having me

Hello, long time lurker here. Decided to finally start posting after seeing a discussion that I felt like contributing to. I've been inside the headphone audio hobby since 2012ish and have owned a plethora of low-end and mid-fi equipments to date (yeah, mid-fi hell is true in the third world, imagine paying 6k US for a HD800S and you'll get my meaning).

As of now I'm having a moderately humble setup, as I have other focus in life and have somewhat matured inside the hobby, knowing what I like (and don't like). For OEs, I own a Beyer T1 1st gen and a Hifiman HE6se v2, both modded by and for myself; for IEMs, I own a Blessing 3 (on sale), a 7hz Timeless AE and too many cheapo chi-fi iems to count bought with leftover lunch money. For source gear, after mixing and matching a lot, I've finally rested on a Schiit Magni + as amp and a MD CS4131 dongle as DAC.

    Hello from Madrid!

I am in my late 50s and since a few years ago I spend a lot of time listening to my music on good headhpones.
My setup is always changing, for now I have a Focal Clear OG, Hifiman Edition XS, Nectar Hivex (with Topping energizer).
My only current desktop dac/amp is an SMSL DO400 and I also often use a few DAPs.
I ordered a Verum 2 this summer, and I cannot wait to try it!

Thanks to all the community for a huge amount of info and help provided.
I hope to be able to help other members as well
