I am in and willing to chip in my share towards cost of a rental.
So Jan 19/20 has already been reserved. Didn't realize that weekend was MLK weekend, no wonder those days were taken. We can do 26/27 instead if people are available that weekend. The cost for that place is $250 for 4hrs and should be fairly large. I don't remember how long our previous meets went on for, but 4 hours is a little bit short considering the set up and break down time. My coworker says that sometimes people are allowed to stay past the 4 hours but I guess it depends on if there's another reservation and depends on building discretion.
I've looked around on various other websites for room rentals in queens and brooklyn, and most places are either too small or expensive for 10-15 people. More options open up if we do Manhattan, but it can be tough or expensive to find parking and then haul gear in.
The 27th probably works better for me, but I can likely still do the 26th if need be...I hope to see 'yall then
Hey, Guys, I may have a solution for the meet. So its in Brooklyn around the corner from the 59th street N train subway stop. So details about the place its my in-laws place they have a basement that they use for there home business. Its not as nice as probably these other places but it should fit everyone, it would certainly be much cheaper maybe possibly free or just a small donation. it would be free the entire day, I think 4hrs at $250 is rather short on time.
I have not asked yet but I think it should be fine, only question is the number of gear ppl will bring as Im not sure of the number of outlets and tables for ppl's rigs. Also wifi is super weak so streaming audio ppl like myself should bring music.
PS i would look at the place more in detail if anyone thinks it might be good choice
Definitely interested if we can have more time, because I feel like our previous meets ran for longer than 4hrs if we include setup and breakdown. Don't remember how many people we had last time, but will look at previous meet threads. If we get a bigger table than in the pictures below, or multiple tables, I think that will suffice.
@ivanrocks321 we had 14 people during our last meet. Not all of us were in that conference room that whole time. Again, as long as we have 1 or 2 large tables and a separate room for us to hang out in, it will be enough space. Let me know soon.
Meet will be on Jan 27 in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Start time will be 12pm with a tentative end time. Officially the policy is 4 hours max but my coworker said that as long as there's no reservation after ours, we are free to continue using the lounge room. The cost of the rental is $250, so I'd like each person to contribute $20 (or more if you're feeling generous). Extra money will go towards food or future meets. If we are under, I will pay the remaining amount.
If you are interested, please PM me with your full name so I can add you to the guest list for the building management to see. Please also post in the thread what you plan on bringing to the meet.
Awesome! Fort Greene makes travel a lot easier for me.
I'll be bringing my ZMF Pendant, modded HD800 and (if I'm lucky) my ZMF Pheasantwood Vérité. Since I'm taking an Uber/Lyft I'd prefer not to, but can try to bring my Yggdrasil A2/Gen5. Just don't have an easy way to bring it with me; would prefer not to carry the large shipping box along with the Pendant's large case.
Some portable stuff too: modified Sony 1Z, misc IEMs, etc.
